Daylight Saving Time* GONE!

It’s the time of the year that we get our hour back*

Time to set our clocks back to …normal! [some already have]

* Well, some countries actually go forward!

* Daylight saving time (DST)—also summer time in British English— is the practice of advancing clocks during the lighter months so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn.

To me this is -obviously- a favorable change and I enjoy designing wall clocks to celebrate it.

So here’s the outcome!

  1. When silence is punctuated by the sound of words and the ticking of a clock, the thoughts fly away.
A thought, a dedication that remains inside the heart of a rainbow, tired, depicts the time clock with the sweetness of existence.
All of this is you, Marina.
Your sweetness punctuated by the ticking of a clock that sleeps in the arms of the rainbow … created by you, from your heart and from your eyes.

    One kiss, my dear friend.

    Ninni

    • Ah, my dear Ninni… your words always find their way straight to the heart. I was so happy DST was gone, had to do something about it! By the way, I find the ticking of a clock so beautifully mesmerizing!
      Thank you, my kind friend.
Have a wonderful new week and -as of now- a new month! A hug from me. 🙂

  2. West coast Canada time change coming up this weekend – always has meant the beginning of winter to me and not welcome – now your lovely visual interpretation has given me a more positive view…

  3. Ah! If I had my wish, it would always be Marina Time, and every moment of the day and night would be suffused with her lovely work and the obvious beauty of her soul…

Uh… do you think I’m asking too much here??

What beautiful clocks– they create a kind of biosphere filled with peace and tranquility. A “timely” vision, as the watch said to the sundial…

I liked how you banished DST with an imperious “Gone!”, my dear Marina, and your Vincent Price laugh gave me the most delightful chills… : )

    • Ha ha, ‘Marina Time’!!! In my attempts to cope with the phenomenon of time, I did these! I leave the clock hands free to be placed at will by the user. For example, when I set the clock, I turn the other way so that I’m never sure of the right time! That’s the ‘Marina Time’ !!! and here’s an encore of Vincent’s laugh: A ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaa!!!! 🙂
As for that dreadful DST, somebody had to show it the way…OUT! 🙂
Thank you my most generous and kind friend! I always look forward to your ingenious reactions! 🙂

  4. dear Marina, so long as i have your art to behold, there will always be enough daylight. xo tony

  5. Gorgeous Marina! Love the differentiation between North & South. We almost missed a flight in Brazil, the day the clock was turned back! 🙂

  6. I love those clocks. The colors are awesome, and the design is great. In Arizona we don’t go on Daylight Savings Time which makes things a lot easier – until we travel to other states and have to figure out what time it is.

    • That’s so nice. Everytime the clocks change to DST I feel that it takes weeks for me to adjust! Maybe I’m more of a night person. 🙂 I’m glad you like them, Bongo!

  7. Now this is terrific, and caught my eye straight away… I love it…. That Hour will make the nights draw in ever faster. But to be honest its been quite dimly lit here all week with constant rain… none stop…
Enjoy your Tuesday Marina.. sending you some Smiles 🙂
    Sue

    • Ah, maybe we sent you that cloud! It was like that last week here and now it’s sunny, so I’ll make a special request that it visits you too, soon! Thank you, my dear Sue! Lots of sunny smiles from me too! 🙂 xx

      • Yesterday the Sun came out ALL Day.So thank you for your gift 🙂 May you enjoy your weekend Marina. And I get to have an extra Hour in Bed on Sunday before work yipeeeee! 🙂

        • Ah, it worked!!!!! 🙂 See, we are connected!! 🙂
Enjoy a beautifully relaxing, refreshing and peaceful break, my dear Sue!
PS I’m also looking forward to the extra bed hour!

  8. Marina,

I’m still too poor to buy any of your lovely art work, Sounds crazy, but the US Dollar is way down and with no hope of ever recovering in my life time. It enables the US to sell stuff to China, at least that’s what they tell us.

I love your work, and Yes, I remembered Daylight Saving Time and thought of it just as you stated.

I’m sending lots of good thoughts to you and your parents.

    Love, Katarina

  9. Your division into hemispheres makes one think that mid-day times, or mid-night times are different from the bottom half. And they are, aren’t they? Now you have me so busy thinking, I’ll forget to change my clocks again.

  10. Thanks for the reminder. I always forget when it is and this causes havoc when I try to ring family back in the UK, they are usually still asleep! Lovely colours on the clocks, I’m am orange and turquoise fan. 🙂

    • I’m happy you like that combination! This change is so pleasant to me that I never forget!! Still, it would be nice if the hour changed same day in all countries! As I read, some change end of September, others beginning of October, others -like us- last Sunday of October, some go back and some go forward and some never change! Phew! Anyway, hope now you will remember! 😉

  11. No pun intended, but very timely post. And for whatever reason, the US starts DST earlier and ends it later. … but I adore shades of blue with shades of orange!

  12. So simple yet so beautiful. Amazing job!

I like turning the clocks back, means it’s nearly Christmas! 🙂

Happy to hear your thoughts
