Happy Spring Equinox!

Happy Spring Equinox, everyone!

Orange Sea Drop wall clock
It’s the time of year when night and day are about equal length.

That will happen at 16:57 UT time

The March equinox (or Northward equinox) is the equinox on the earth when the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator, heading northward. The March equinox is the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the autumnal equinox in the Southern Hemisphere.

The equinox can be as early as March 19 or as late as March 22, the precise time being about 5 hours 49 minutes later in a common year, and about 18 hours 11 minutes earlier in a leap year, than in the previous year. It is the balance of common years and leap years that keeps the calendar date of the equinox from drifting more than a day from March 20 each year.

    • Receiving words like yours is the true gift, my dear Melody and for this I am very grateful. I would love that very much – as I said you are surrounded by beauty!
Have a beautiful Monday and new week, my dear! 🙂

  1. I find this beautiful work to be filled with symbolism, like so:

    1. Time: I feel it is always time to experience a Marina Kanavaki painting, and that they reflect an eternal beauty– much like the lovely painter Herself.

    2. Equinox: When I look at a Kanavaki creation, I experience equal parts delight and awe.

    3. Spring: Just looking at a Kanavaki puts a spring in my step.

I must now conclude my remarks. I always worry about being too eloquent… : )

    • The Kanavaki has left the building and is somewhere flying high. I fear we may never fish her back…
Wait… she has a message for a certain Mark Armstrong: “I’m si-ngin’ in the air – Just si-ngin’ in the air – such a glo-rious fee-lin’ – Mark se-nt me again – …” the Kanavaki is whistling joyfully now!
      🙂 🙂

  2. Reminds me about my Satellite Communication exam where we study about “equinox”.. 🙂

  3. Wow, you have been busy with all the comments …. wonderful clock! Very stylish and contemporary. And many likes too – congratulations, you’re worth it all.

  4. Hence the spring play tricks… after several days of sun and warm (up to 25°), snow is back up to 400 m / s and is again around 5-10°
Then your fresh tones of flowers, are a balm for the heart! Just tenderly beautiful…
    a kiss 🙂 claudine

  5. Beautiful! I love the concentric, repetition here, although I think I prefer the stronger colours of your earlier rendition for ‘Daylight Saving Time’. Happy spring to you Marina 🙂

      • Awwww!!! Wowee! That makes me want to jump in and do it right away! Not sure why I’ve been hesitating. It sits in my closet, pristine and plastic, untouched as my perfectionism prevents me from painting.. sigh…. how did you first get started? Did you take classes?

        • Too young to remember and after school I studied it too ..as if one can study art – but for the sake of argument! Also good for learning techniques …and then forgetting them! 🙂 Have fun!

  6. For us in India too it is the season for celebrations. On 17 March we had Holi a festival of fun and color. Wishing you dear Marina a happy and colorful Spring.
    Cheers and best regards.

    • Ah, thank you so much, Donna – what a thing to say!!!! I can’t help but feel the joy of color and rebirth this season! You know what I mean!! Happy Spring, my dear!!!

  7. Dear Marina, have a beautiful day… The Sun is hidden here today… But its shining somewhere.. 🙂 and the light is always bright when I visit your lovely blog… Happy Spring Equinox too… May we grow in Peace and Love.. xox
