  1. just finished reading (but no-wear near “understanding”) S. Hawkings’ “Universe in a nutshell”. your painting reminded me of a/the “string” — from “string theory”. a one-dimensional though almost-infinity-in-reach ‘object’. hmmm ….

  2. Marina, this so classy and bold on the same time – stunning colors as always. I got my sleeve today and it’s so beautiful. I could see that it was mailed from Germany – they have the post mail system in the world, take ages to get anything from Germany. Love it, slightly too big for my netbook, but I know it will feel very good in the sleeve.

    • Oh, that’s brilliant! I’m so happy you like it. I’m sure it will do its best to keep your notebook happy and safe! 😉 As for Germany – I thought we were the only ones but apparently you are right – they do own the post system worldwide! Thank you for your kind words on my painting. Have a lovely weekend! 🙂

  3. First of all, I wonder how I missed this one … and now I’m wondering about what else I’ve missed! Love it … there’s something that captures me in this one, but I can’t pinpoint it.

  4. Love the blue .. and the yellow, well now, I am using my imagination here…As the yellow reminds me of some yellow yarn I have used recently in knitting.. it also sent my mind to what I have been painting today.. a mouse’s tail.. 😉 I love the detail on the close ups.. 🙂
Have a Wonderful rest of the week Marina.. I always seem to be late in catching your posts… But I do get here eventually.. 🙂 Much love dear friend
    Love Sue xoxox

    • I saw your lovely mouse [both of them actually!] and loved it!!! I see what you mean about the tail! 😆 You are never late, my dear and thank you! Wishing you also a beautiful and very creative rest of the week, Sue! 🙂 Hugs xxxx

  5. Marina, I love this – it looks like gold. (I don’t know how I missed this post!) ~xoxo

  6. Very Beautiful Abstract – Love it! Great work Marina! All the Best to You, from your friend, Nawfal – I PINTERESTED this one! 🙂

  7. This is quite a mysterious creation, Marina. It makes me think of a dark sea. But is the sinuous strand a source of light; or is it a serpent? V. intriguing.

    • Tish, what a lovely thought! It could be a portrait / face [the ‘sinuous strand’] swimming in a dark sea of thoughts… Thank you for your beautiful comment! 🙂

  8. I love the brush strokes and the lighting that comes through in the use of color, Marina. I scrolled up and down multiple times in the reader enjoying the different perspectives. This is really beautiful!

  9. Amazing! This face is for the wonderful animals, I think.
I have been a Veggie since I was 17 and love animals, as you do.
    Beautiful art, beautiful blog!

    • What a lovely thing to say, Gilly! It does take practice and a rather full garbage bin but the ‘final’ one usually comes effortlessly, so much so that even I am surprised! 🙂 Thank you, my dear! xx

  10. Nice. Reminds me (though your style is totally different) of the snake jewels in many of Labisse’s paintings! Thank you.
    Brian

    • Thank you, Brian! That’s very interesting! This is my ‘take’ of a portrait which after years of abstraction it has come down to a line: profile and front of a face, simultaneously. Glad you like it! 🙂

  11. What if…depiction of the “silver cord” that binds body to soul in this life.

  12. Wonderful Marina, it’s the use of color that draws the eye, with the texture and form shapes that draw the viewer in. Love the composition.

    • This was such a thick layer of oil to get the texture I wanted, but it’s hard to capture it on a photograph [eventhough it was done by a pro photographer]. I am very glad you like it, Mary! 🙂

  13. I liked this very much. I have completed several pieces similarly. Where one large piece was divided into smaller pieces, which, curiously had an entirely different feel than the first piece. My post today is such a piece. I liked that you let us see the whole process.

    • Thank you, Noelle. I did see your work and it is beautiful. This is from my exhibition in 1999 titled: Characters as the paintings are ‘portraits’ of different characters – or at least, my version of a portrait. Glad you liked it! 🙂

  14. Came back to look again. 🙂 This is just a painting that I could stare at for a long time. Now the yellow looks like a river to me, and it is just so wonderful, Marina. Great work. 🙂
