Finally decided to update my virtual art gallery, so I will be revisiting old posts of paintings.
I’ll keep the original texts / notes / comments & correct broken links if any.
Bare with me though, it’s going to be a long process …towards a more organized site and
a happy day! 😉

So beautiful above and below. I love these watercolors.
Thank you, my kind friend. That means so much to me.
I never tire of this series of yours Marina. They all, like this one, make my mind come alive when I look at them and excite my neurons at a fundamental level. It is good to see art which stirs me so.
A gorgeous palette Marina. Happy Thursday! 🙂
I know you are working with reflections here, but have you ever considered how a tree’s root system mirrors, in a way, the branches above? That just as the branches extend to the sun and air, the roots deepen into the earth and moisture. Be well.
My dear Marina,
I really looooove this painting!
What a beautiful colors !
Amazing❤️
xxxx
Ah, thank you, my dear Violet! 🙂 xxxx
Hello, Marina.
I don’t think the world can wait another day without another of your creations. Publish or surely we shall perish!
A big big smile, my friend. Your words and support are very dear to me. Thank you! 🙂
_I love your creations
Thank you so much, F! 🙂 [apologies for the late response]
As above, so below… Now wait a minute. Above, we have the pantheon on Mt. Olympus. Below, we have us poor struggling mortals. How can the two be synonymous??
Wait, wait, I see it!! Marina Kanavaki is a mortal (well, technically, anyway), and yet her work clearly belongs to a higher realm, making Marina one of the true immortals in the world of painting!!!
Yes! So it does follow that As Above, So Below!! And if Marina can do it, it gives the rest of us poor bumbling protoplasms hope!! (even tho we suspect she was a goddess to begin with)
And that concludes my astute analysis of her latest work… : )
My dear dear Mark, my apologies for my late response.
Now how is a ‘sane’ person expected to react to such an analysis?! Why, by going berserk of course!
signed by a devoted fan.
Thank you, my friend.
Lovely and cool colors. 🙂
Thank you, my dear Nandini [and sorry for the late response] 🙂
Love the echo of shapes in this elegant piece, Marina. Harmoniously beautiful.
Thank you very much, my dear Elena. 🙂
A Volcano of beauty and colors.Warm Regards.Jalal
Lovely colors but what has blown me away here is the perspective!… great mirror effect!. Hugs, Aquileana 😀
awesome, looks amazing
Ah, thank you, Jayanth!! 🙂
Hi Marina…….I must tell you how I admire your bold choice of subject here. Most people ignore what lies beneath the surface of things and you have done a wonderful artwork using the “as above so below” idea.. Well done!
Oh, but it’s what lies beneath which makes us what we are [and vice versa] – but you know that all too well! 😉 Thank you, Robert! 🙂
You are most welcome Marina 🙂
Marina it is always great to come back and breathe your colours.. sorry I can’t be more often here to enjoy the beauty xxx
Thank YOU for visiting and for your beautiful comments, my dear Doron. Don’t apologize please! 🙂
Thanks it is my pleasure 🙂
You are always welcome x
I love your artwork! The colors are so effervescent and fun, and there’s something very serene about detail 2 that settles me in a relaxed mood. Really enjoyed your post today 🙂 – Lena

I have to say I admired you, watercolors are not easy
not for me
Doris
Ah, thank you, my dear Doris and thanks for sharing!!!
I’m sure that this is not true about waterclors and you!
Happy happy weekend!!! 🙂
I love your Society 6 site. You have some beautiful things that really represent your gorgeous colors and design. I think the “above and below” series is very special. I seem incapable of choosing favorites. Each is a real standout, Marina!
Awww, your words make me so happy! ‘As Above…’ is very special to me and has been ‘haunting’ me for some time now. I’m so glad you like it!!! 🙂 Happy weekend, my dear!! 🙂
That looks very nice on a canvas.
Happy you like it, Bongo!!!! Congratulations on your award and… treats!!! 🙂
THis is beautiful! The colors are perfect together.
Thanks so much, Megan! 🙂
Marina, this is beautiful! So alive and bright! ~xxx
So happy to hear that from you, Patricia! This theme keeps coming back, so I obliged! Thank you, my dear friend. Have a joyful weekend! 🙂 xxxx
A beauty, soft and sweet with a strong heart! Perhaps it is a reflection of you!
Aww…. Resa, you are too kind, my dear!
Happy weekend!!! 🙂
PS, nuh, maybe bits and pieces! 😉
This time you have gone to the very roots of western esoteric thought. An excellent tribute to Hermes. Excellent.
Thank you very much, Aesop! A great compliment this is! 🙂
This is so sweet, and lovely. Have a great week, Marina!
And so is your comment, Richard! Thank you and you too have a great week and weekend ahead! 🙂
Your colours and details are as gorgeous as ever Marina but I do feel a small sadness for this lonely tree, especially as it echoes the poignant season we are about to enter. This piece makes me think of the myth of Narcissus…
Thank you, my dear John. A sweet sadness though… Lonely is our nature and sometimes we choose to share. Ah, yes, the myth of Narcissus… This tree speaks with its alter ego, in this case harmonically, so maybe it won’t perish! 🙂
Autumn red on trees and in the air, below the water reflects the moment. Thank you!
Thank YOU, my friend and thank you for this too: http://augustmeditations.wordpress.com/2014/09/16/loving-the-self/ 🙂
So beautiful dear Marina. Loved it – more please 🙂
Underway, my friend! Thank you, dear Dilip! 🙂
Beautiful Marina and love the detail photos
Ah, thank you, Robert!! 🙂

ABOVE AND BELOW…MARINA’S ART IS THE WAY TO GO!
Your choice of palate is one of my favorite color combinations … so of course I like it! 🙂 … Love the closeup as I see a face profile blowing the wind … planned or unplanned? … then I had to find it in the broad view.
Ah, my dear Frank – I’m so happy my colors were pleasing this time!!! It was unplanned, that’s why I love close ups. To see what’s been going on under my paintbrush!!! 🙂
Did you find it?
The blowing face came to me immediately in the closeup, but I didn’t see it in the initial look at the whole painting … then had to find it!
All of these are splendid !!
Ah, thank you!! 🙂
This is really stunning art. Marina. Love the blend of colours. 😉
Thank you, my dear Sylvia – so glad you like it!! 🙂 xx
Love the tree and it’s reflection, Marina! xxx
So happy to hear that, Deb! Thank you!! 🙂 xxxx
Lovely colors
Thank you, Jess! 🙂
One of your best Marina – just stunning.
Oh, thank you, Jim!!! 🙂
Love this series Marina.. And I have two boxed sets of ink hardly used.. I checked and all as still as good as new… You have made me want to experiment using these two mediums… I had an idea as I gazed into our small fish pond the other day…. Now transferring ideas onto paper will be the experiment 🙂 xxx Great colours. Love and Hugs Sue
Oh, that’s great, Sue! My inks are 20yrs old and some even 30+ [my dad’s] and you know, they all work. Even if they are dry, with a few drops of water they are ready to use again! I wish you a lot of fun with them and hope to see something soon! Love and hugs to you too! 🙂 xxxx
Wonderful Marina – love the luscious close-ups seeing the color blends. Dream-like quality to this piece as I stare into the tree reflection – symbol of life.
Yes, my dear Mary, symbol of life and I am so glad you like this, my friend!! 🙂 xx
I love the reflection I see here 🙂
Very good to hear that, Andy! Thank you!! 🙂
🙂
As usual I love your creative style and find your rendition of the tree and sky’s reflection on the water. You give it a feeling that offers a dreamlike picture of nature’s fall season. All three renditions are indeed beautiful! Jean-Jacques
My dear Jean-Jacques, thank you for your beautiful words! I’m so happy you like my dreamscape! 🙂
beautiful…as always Marina…:-)
Thank you, my dear Sriram!!!:-)
I love the colour palette here, Marina. Soothingly beautiful.
Ah, Tish, thank you so much! 🙂
