I never tire of this series of yours Marina. They all, like this one, make my mind come alive when I look at them and excite my neurons at a fundamental level. It is good to see art which stirs me so.

A gorgeous palette Marina. Happy Thursday! 🙂

I know you are working with reflections here, but have you ever considered how a tree’s root system mirrors, in a way, the branches above? That just as the branches extend to the sun and air, the roots deepen into the earth and moisture. Be well.

As above, so below… Now wait a minute. Above, we have the pantheon on Mt. Olympus. Below, we have us poor struggling mortals. How can the two be synonymous??
Wait, wait, I see it!! Marina Kanavaki is a mortal (well, technically, anyway), and yet her work clearly belongs to a higher realm, making Marina one of the true immortals in the world of painting!!!
Yes! So it does follow that As Above, So Below!! And if Marina can do it, it gives the rest of us poor bumbling protoplasms hope!! (even tho we suspect she was a goddess to begin with)
And that concludes my astute analysis of her latest work… : )

My dear dear Mark, my apologies for my late response.
Now how is a ‘sane’ person expected to react to such an analysis?! Why, by going berserk of course!

Hi Marina…….I must tell you how I admire your bold choice of subject here. Most people ignore what lies beneath the surface of things and you have done a wonderful artwork using the “as above so below” idea.. Well done!
LikeLike
Oh, but it’s what lies beneath which makes us what we are [and vice versa] – but you know that all too well! 😉 Thank you, Robert! 🙂

Your colours and details are as gorgeous as ever Marina but I do feel a small sadness for this lonely tree, especially as it echoes the poignant season we are about to enter. This piece makes me think of the myth of Narcissus…
LikeLike
Thank you, my dear John. A sweet sadness though… Lonely is our nature and sometimes we choose to share. Ah, yes, the myth of Narcissus… This tree speaks with its alter ego, in this case harmonically, so maybe it won’t perish! 🙂

Your choice of palate is one of my favorite color combinations … so of course I like it! 🙂 … Love the closeup as I see a face profile blowing the wind … planned or unplanned? … then I had to find it in the broad view.

Ah, my dear Frank – I’m so happy my colors were pleasing this time!!! It was unplanned, that’s why I love close ups. To see what’s been going on under my paintbrush!!! 🙂
Did you find it?

The blowing face came to me immediately in the closeup, but I didn’t see it in the initial look at the whole painting … then had to find it!

Love this series Marina.. And I have two boxed sets of ink hardly used.. I checked and all as still as good as new… You have made me want to experiment using these two mediums… I had an idea as I gazed into our small fish pond the other day…. Now transferring ideas onto paper will be the experiment 🙂 xxx Great colours. Love and Hugs Sue

Oh, that’s great, Sue! My inks are 20yrs old and some even 30+ [my dad’s] and you know, they all work. Even if they are dry, with a few drops of water they are ready to use again! I wish you a lot of fun with them and hope to see something soon! Love and hugs to you too! 🙂 xxxx
