aquamarina* three

3rd month of the year [already] day 3 – 03:00 EET
March [from the Latin: Martius – named for Mars, the Roman god of war] marks the beginning of Spring [meteorologically on the first day, astronomically on the 21st – 23rd, also known as Spring Equinox [for the Northern Hemisphere].
Speaking of Spring, it seems it was in a hurry this year! Everything is starting to bloom after a rather warm February. There is a saying that when March comes in like a lion it goes out like a lamb. It went the other way round, so I hope it won’t leave with a roar!

Back to March though.

This month’s colors*: Light blue and Yellow

*[although I wonder why red isn’t one!]

March Birthstones: Aquamarine*, Bloodstone, Jade & Rock Crystal

* hence the title – and no, the spelling in the title IS correct. I took the liberty of altering it as it is my birth month 😉

Flowers associated with March: Jonquil* & Violet

*also known as Daffodil.

Word* of the month: Courage [sigh!]

*also: Affection, Cheerfulness, Desire, Grants Wishes, New Beginnings, Respect, and Sympathy.

Astrological signs: Pisces and Aries

On number three:
According to Pythagoras and the Pythagorean school, the number 3, which they called triad, is the noblest of all digits, as it is the only number to equal the sum of all the terms below it, and the only number whose sum with those below equals the product of them and itself.
Threes, triplets and triads are very significant in esoterism and many religions.
It is the atomic number of lithium

Also visit Frank‘s Salutes To Numbers
There is a downside to March… on the 27th, we [in this part of the planet] switch to DST [Daylight Saving Time]. We lose one hour on that Sunday and for the following 7 months!
With the above in mind and trying hard not to succumb to reds [!]

About months & numbers: Back in September 2015, inspired by Bumba’s “The Numbers Game Is Here: Mathematics for DummiesThe Whole Nine Yards, I started working on images for each month. First month was September, so this series will be completed in August 2016!

Why such humiliation? Because I’m late– too late to wish a special someone a happy birthday, and give her a small portion of what she deserves => 🎂🎁👑💍🏆💰💎👏🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼🌞🌕⭐️🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹❤️ x 1,000,000,000

My dear Marina!! Do forgive me. I hope your birthday was lovely, and that the Mt. Olympus Songbird Choir sang to you all day long, and brought you little cups of ambrosia to help keep your strength up… 😊

I love AquaMarina Three– a truly inspired name for the noblest of all gem-like painters and goddesses– and I’m sure ol’ Pythagoras would agree with me, bless his triangular heart!! 🔺

Smooth and soothing and serene yellow circles, with a simmering passionate core!!– and that wild untamed dark and brooding creative streak, erupting with new fancies and ideas!! Yes, it’s well-named and makes perfect sense to me… 😊

    Beautiful work from a beautiful soul! I toast you with ambrosia, and sink into a happy swoon… 🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨 x 1,000 => 🚀🌖💥👽👽👽🚑💨

    • No hammer – no doghouse – no railroad track – no soaking of that precious head, only ambrosia with tons of gratitude for my dearest most talented good friend! 🙂

  2. I’m always fascinated with the information you post about each month. I studied astrology a long time ago. I enjoyed it very much. You bring to mind the many things I know about each month but never think about it.
The artwork is a feast for the eyes, Marina. The intercepting lines creating a circle for the viewer to be taken into a world of outer magnitude is hypnotizing. The blues in the background soften the powerful lines drawing us to them. I never tire of seeing your creative hand at play with color and shapes.
Courage …. well …. to have courage is to have one’s convictions in place despite a danger or disapproval. Courage is to make an effort to do or accomplish whatever one might fears doing. Marina, I hope you can feel how much I enjoyed this.
    I’d like to wish you a pre-Happy Birthday, dear Marina. 🎉 🎂 👑🎈
    Isadora 😎😍

    • Awwww…. my dearest Isadora, I can’t begin to express how happy your words made me! Thank you so much, my sweet friend and thank you for the Birthday wishes! Sending you a big big hug – love and xxxxxx 🙂

  3. The intersecting arc pattern, with the textured 3 is brilliant Marina! And I love the aquamarine, warm orange combo as well as the creative title 🙂

  4. Colors of light blue and yellow: perfectly matches the sky here (between the rain) and those bright little dandelions popping up.
Love the way the arcs of the golden sphere mimic the arcs of the blue and then there’s the giant dark swoop oozing gold color repeat. A nod to the patterns and repeats of life and nature?
    Lovely

    • Ah, thank you Phil! I’m so glad you enjoyed the journey of the ‘3’! Now I just hope your sky remains that blue and the dandelions color your paths! 🙂

  5. What a beautiful composition. I know I’m late with the 3/3 edition of my magazine. It’s on the way. Three cheers for you, Marina!!!

  6. Lovely Marina.. Love these colours together and your lovely design.. I have been seeing lots of 3’s of late.. So loved the reference here too ..
We had snow today so Spring is turning into winter after the very mild winter too.. 🙂 Never mind more time to practice with the Universal Delivery 🙂 lol

Hugs and enjoy a peaceful weekend xxx

    • lol lol lol A-ha-ha-ha…. At college, my friends used to summon me with singing voices: “Marina, Aqua Marina”! 😉
Awwww, a big big kiss! Thank you, my sweet friend!!!! 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead! 🙂 xxxxxxx
ps about reds, well, what can I do? March: Mars: Red… am I to blame?!!!! Not to mention that I love it too! 😉

    • Ah, Gilly, that is reassuring! Because of Mars, I always had this image of March being red! 😉 So happy you like it and…. THANK YOU for …framing me!
Big hug to you! 🙂 xxxxx

  7. Wow it’s all about the edging – those fabulous rough, but very distinct edges are spot-on Marina! Love your design featuring the wheel signaling change, and March is all that and more. Happy March to you my friend ~

  8. A stunningly gorgeous painting Marina. The warm and cool geometries dancing with that breathtaking and burning organic edge echos how March can be…the promise of spring but with still that blue chill in the air…

    • Ah, yes exactly: “the promise of spring but with still that blue chill in the air…” or: wishful thinking as it seems we have completely skipped winter this year! 😉 Thank you for your wonderful words, my friend. They mean so much.

  9. Love the name, very clever! Beautiful design once again Marina, your style is so wonderful to look at, superb colors as well!
Happy and a wonderful March to you my dear friend! Hugs~Eva
