May, June or July?

Hard to believe I’ve been offline for such a long time! Yet, here I am 3 months later, crawling myself back, in snail speed.
I can hardly start describing these days which began with a Roosterpox err, chickenpox, back in April!
[Bearing in mind this is the year of the Rooster and that yours truly is a Rooster, I shouldn’t be surprised!]
That in combination with a loss of connectivity, technical problems and then all sorts of rather unfortunate events kept me away from this cozy corner and my friends.
So, here I am with a difficult task I’ve set of total renewal!
To begin with tho, a little bit of the …past!

Month of May

or

Emerald Five

June

or

Pearl Six

Before I go on to our current month, there is something I’d like to mention. Something I was planning to post and I surely will in the future.
June 18th was Hera’s [our beautiful rescue dog and queen of our hearts] “Gotcha Day
so even a month later here is the honoree:

and here she is on a wall calendar, on the month she was adopted from Pitbull Rescue,
a team of lovely people who sacrifice their time and efforts to rescue these wonderful beings!
We are forever grateful to them!

leading us to

July [the now!]

or

Ruby Seven

    • She was found wandering in the streets. Somebody probably realized she’s a mix and threw her out… She was rescued by the lovely people of Pitbull Rescue, neutered and then stayed in a foster home before …she chose us! 😉

      • That’s nice. It’s funny how we’ve created this society that marginalizes animals that normally would be just fine on their own. People tend to get upset here over raccoons, citing risk to children as the cause for their alarm. We also have lots of squirrels, skunks, some rabbits and I saw two bushy-tailed foxes prancing down the road the other night. They startled me a bit but nice to see.

  1. Marina, thanks for stopping in to Art calling and liking a recent post. I appreciate that there are a few folks out there who still take the trouble to read my blog and either comment or like.
By the way, your dog is beautiful. I loved the picture of her in a basket, tummy up. We have a classic shot like that for Lucie our fox terrier, when we just got her and she fit into a shoe box (10 years ago)!
    take care, Sarah

    • Hi Sarah! I value old friends! 😉 I’d love to see Lucie’s shot in a shoe or a tummy up one! I posted this photo because I’m proud we were able to make an ex-stray/shelter/abused doggy finally feel carefree and ‘at home! It just melts me to see her happy. 🙂

  2. It’s really good to see you Marina, I haven’t been around much recently either. Hera is a beauty, nearly as cute as my new arrivals, Flora and George!

  3. Welcome back, my friend ❤ As I wrote on Resa’s blog, you have been missed. I love that you return with beautiful works and knowing that you are healthy now makes my heart happy ❤

    • Oh, it was lovely seeing you at Resa’s, my dearest Christy and so good to see you here too! I’ve been away for too long. Hence it’s taking me long to re-organize! 😉 xxxxxxxxxxxx

    • Thank you, my dear Belén and I’m so happy to see you here! 🙂
Yes, I agree with you. What I love about that picture is how carefree she is now, a year after we adopted her when she was found wandering in the streets, hungry, homeless…. Happy weekend to you too, my friend! 🙂 xx

  4. May I join everyone in saying welcome back Marina. I hope all traces of the pox are gone and you are balanced and healthy again. It’s lovely revisiting your month paintings. I am a Ruby 7 and adore the colours and design in your interpretation although my life number is 6 so I also relate very much to Pearl 6.
We’ve all missed you, can you tell? 🙂

    • I forgot to comment on your new blog design, at least I think it’s new. I like it except it tends to wander from side to side…!

      • Thank you for the feedback [you’re the first commenting on it]. I’m still doing alterations so I appreciate any feedback [especially from trained eyes like yours! ;-)]. By ‘wander from side to side’ do you mean the mouseover changes on the post images?

  5. So happy you are back! You add beautify and joy to my life. Ive missed you friend! And very sorry to hear about your sickness and “other unfortunate events”. I hope the months ahead bring such great happiness that you are more than consoled.

  6. Bursting back into blogging with elegance and bold style. Love that swirl of 6.
How striking Hera’s coat is – she’s beautiful and looks so composed and relaxed. Very settled in now.(We have lost our very good dog-pit bull friend Roxy this summer. A huge dog wiggling with thrill and friendship every time we met on walks. A long life, well lived and well loved. Dogs gently nudge people to be their best selves.)

    • I’m so sorry about Roxy! Why couldn’t they have our life span… She’s carrying all your love, wherever she is – happy and light. Hera is a rescue pittie. It took her several months to feel relaxed and ‘at home’. First days she was glued to her bed, had us wondering! Yes, they do bring out our best selves. Thank you, my friend.

  7. Great to see you back Marina! I have been logging in intermittently myself, and did stop by to check, but my comment got eaten up by your spam folder. Sorry to hear you had to suffer the ‘rooster-pox’. Wonderful art as always. Hera is a special bonus 🙂 Happy weekend.

    • Among other things I did experience technical problems, so I’m not surprised although, I am very sorry this happened! It’s great to see you too, my dear friend and yes, Hera is a special bonus for us too! 🙂 A beautiful weekend to you too! 🙂

  8. The noble sentiment Saves no one! All Have Duckling and Rejoice in the Name of Love And State Unable To Stay Indifferent to Front
To the words of love of poets and thinkers.
Aphoristic thoughts translate Capaci, alone, of Building a universe of meanings in which each of us can identify. Romantic, intense, poetic thoughts, a timeless way of saying love, friendship, brotherhood.
This is what inspires me your artwork, sweet Marina.

You, Woman, give beauty, joy, pleasure and life to your paintings that touch the soul. A man, without being able to admire your precious design, is a sunless sky, a sunless light, an eagle without wings . A man without the expression of your art which is color and expression of beauty in all its forms, the aroma and the taste of your genius, is a sky without stars, without a rock sea, an unmarked grave.
Give us your smile, Marina, your lips, your sorrow, and I will call me Man.

A big hug from Bologna, Ita, my dearest …

    Ninni

    🙂

    • It’s been such a long time, my dearest friend and seeing you here makes my return even more joyful and -as always- your words leave me speechless and humbled.
The love and sunshine you share is one of a kind.
Thank you, my kindest friend, from my heart.
      Sending you a big smile,
      my dear Ninni

  9. Welcome back – you were missed. I am celebrating on my side of the world, jumping up and down with joy. Life is always the best when shared with kindred spirits. Hugs and more hugs coming your way. And Hera is adorable.

    • Oh, and I am certainly celebrating in my part of the world, Rebecca, seeing you!!!! I couldn’t agree more about kindred spirits! 🙂 I’ve also missed our connection but I’m gradually trying to make up for it. Sending love and hugs to you! Yes, I also think she’s adorable! [understatement of the year! 😉 ] xxxxx

  10. Dear Marina.. So happy that you are back.. And yet so sorry that you have been so poorly and had lots of inbetween problems too.. The three entries of the missing months made up for it for sure.. So did Hera , so beautiful is she…
And an apt name for sure.. Sending lots of love and well wishes dear Marina as you continue to go from strength to strength.
    Hugs Sue xxx ❤

  11. So very good to see you back Marina! I hope you are fully well and ready for action! Been thinking about you recently and wondering about commissioning you for a book cover for me. But I’ll chat to you privately about that! xx

  12. Welcome back, Marina. I knew you were busy, but surely didn’t expect pox was on the agenda. Glad you are better now. There is a lot in this post, and no question, Hera is the star! In terms of your art, June is my favorite! Just love the way you filled the 6.

    • So good to see you, Frank! Good to be back. Well, that rooster didn’t keep me occupied for too long and I am thankful it was quite merciful [judging from cases I’ve known!], however it was a start of series of other [albeit minor yet piling up] problems / errands etc which kept me fully occupied. Clearing up now, so here I am. I’ll be visiting soon. So much catching up to do!!! 🙂

  13. welcome back…… glad to see you haven’t fallen off the edge of the world…. 😉

  14. Marina, I am a Ruby Seven and this post is my birthday gift from you! Much love to all you love, and I know that includes Hera! ❤

    • Charlie, my friend, I’ve missed you too and your poetry home, which I look forward to visit very soon, as a great great fan of yours [but you know that]! 🙂 🙂 Can’t believe how long it’s been!

  15. Oh, but you’re back with a bounty of great images that bring us smiles.. but chickenpox? ooh, spooky, as no one in my family remembers me having that ‘childhood’ infection… so each time it makes its rounds with the little ones, I wonder, “hmmmm.’

Glad you’re back and building momentum, though I suspect you’ve had lots to fill your days and nights.

    Welcome back!

    • My dear dear Lisa, it’s been so long, I don’t know where to start from! It’s hard trying to get everything sorted as is, but I’m taking my stride. Yes, everyone was making fun of me with my Roosterpox! As I said, I’m sure being a Rooster had something to do with it! 😉 It wasn’t all that bad though – thankfully. So happy to see you. I’ll be picking up on my visits soon. Missed your place! 🙂 xx

      • I hope that your immune system kicks in a tosses that lingering virus from your system…. the dengue/chikungunya stayed with me for almost two years – mainly fatigue and joint pain, but I am now thankfully much much better.

        • I remember that horrible tongue-twister virus!!!! Well, having an autoimmune that tends to attack itself I have learned to cope very well with various viruses, in other words it picked the wrong chick!!!! 😉 ps if you’re not a fan of supplements, drink and eat as many oranges as you can. I personally prefer a few tabs of vit C instead – too lazy to squeeze! 😉 xxxxxxxxx

          • hey amiga
i too appreciate the wonders of natural vitamin c.. here in the tropics/neotropics, i have easy sources from passion fruit, grapefruit, lemon mandarinas, guavas, etc etc… i’ve added fresh curcuminn to the ginger teas, and am noticing great improvement. may we both leave those lingering viruses in the dumpster!

  16. Welcome back, and as the Strolling Bones had it, pleased to revisit the Marina “she comes in colours everywhere – she’s a rainbow” monthly numerics. RH
