Hard to believe I’ve been offline for such a long time! Yet, here I am 3 months later, crawling myself back, in snail speed.
I can hardly start describing these days which began with a Roosterpox err, chickenpox, back in April!
[Bearing in mind this is the year of the Rooster and that yours truly is a Rooster, I shouldn’t be surprised!]
That in combination with a loss of connectivity, technical problems and then all sorts of rather unfortunate events kept me away from this cozy corner and my friends.
So, here I am with a difficult task I’ve set of total renewal!

Before I go on to our current month, there is something I’d like to mention. Something I was planning to post and I surely will in the future.
June 18th was Hera’s [our beautiful rescue dog and queen of our hearts] “Gotcha Day“
so even a month later here is the honoree:
and here she is on a wall calendar, on the month she was adopted from Pitbull Rescue,
a team of lovely people who sacrifice their time and efforts to rescue these wonderful beings!
We are forever grateful to them!

What fate was Hera rescued from? You probably mentioned it but I can’t remember… 🙂
She was found wandering in the streets. Somebody probably realized she’s a mix and threw her out… She was rescued by the lovely people of Pitbull Rescue, neutered and then stayed in a foster home before …she chose us! 😉
That’s nice. It’s funny how we’ve created this society that marginalizes animals that normally would be just fine on their own. People tend to get upset here over raccoons, citing risk to children as the cause for their alarm. We also have lots of squirrels, skunks, some rabbits and I saw two bushy-tailed foxes prancing down the road the other night. They startled me a bit but nice to see.
Exactly like you say. Animals just wish to be. I love foxes. The few times I’ve seen them they run off and disappear before I get a chance to greet them!

By the way, your dog is beautiful. I loved the picture of her in a basket, tummy up. We have a classic shot like that for Lucie our fox terrier, when we just got her and she fit into a shoe box (10 years ago)!

Hi Sarah! I value old friends! 😉 I’d love to see Lucie’s shot in a shoe or a tummy up one! I posted this photo because I’m proud we were able to make an ex-stray/shelter/abused doggy finally feel carefree and ‘at home! It just melts me to see her happy. 🙂

How striking Hera’s coat is – she’s beautiful and looks so composed and relaxed. Very settled in now.(We have lost our very good dog-pit bull friend Roxy this summer. A huge dog wiggling with thrill and friendship every time we met on walks. A long life, well lived and well loved. Dogs gently nudge people to be their best selves.)
I’m so sorry about Roxy! Why couldn’t they have our life span… She’s carrying all your love, wherever she is – happy and light. Hera is a rescue pittie. It took her several months to feel relaxed and ‘at home’. First days she was glued to her bed, had us wondering! Yes, they do bring out our best selves. Thank you, my friend.

So good to see you, Frank! Good to be back. Well, that rooster didn’t keep me occupied for too long and I am thankful it was quite merciful [judging from cases I’ve known!], however it was a start of series of other [albeit minor yet piling up] problems / errands etc which kept me fully occupied. I hope that your immune system kicks in a tosses that lingering virus from your system…. the dengue/chikungunya stayed with me for almost two years – mainly fatigue and joint pain, but I am now thankfully much much better.
I remember that horrible tongue-twister virus!!!! Well, having an autoimmune that tends to attack itself I have learned to cope very well with various viruses, in other words it picked the wrong chick!!!! 😉 ps if you’re not a fan of supplements, drink and eat as many oranges as you can. I personally prefer a few tabs of vit C instead – too lazy to squeeze! 😉 xxxxxxxxx

i too appreciate the wonders of natural vitamin c.. here in the tropics/neotropics, i have easy sources from passion fruit, grapefruit, lemon mandarinas, guavas, etc etc… i’ve added fresh curcuminn to the ginger teas, and am noticing great improvement. may we both leave those lingering viruses in the dumpster!
