Rain raining rain in …June

For the past week our skies have been busy with heavy rain clouds.
It’s been raining,
raining
and raining.
June is keeping up with the same tune:
white noise and thunder!
To say that I love rain
would be an understatement
…obviously!

After 3 months of being homebound, I had been looking forward to visit my favorite hill. My excitement was such that I chose to ignore a few gray clouds above [and the all too obvious intentions of Mother Nature!]. So off I went walked all the way to the top with the accompaniment of a few shy drops. I thought to myself, I’ll take pics, as soon as I reach the top. Shy drops within seconds became a curtain of water. Fortunately, there is a small kiosk on top of the hill, under which I took shelter for the curtain to clear. So I waited. Looked up at the dark gray cloud right above me and marking a spot, I tried to see which way it was moving. Again, I waited and waited… but it wouldn’t move! It was obvious that the cloud was here to stay, so I had to make a brave decision. Hood on and off I went with my 4legged companion who was eager to indulge from one mud puddle to another [unlike me]! So, no pics on my first visit to the hill after 3+ months.
Just this…
This was the view from the top, around same time, last year.

But that’s okay…

all of it…

it’s part of being 😉

I think it’s going to rain today

Dusty Springfield

Composer Lyricist: Randy Newman

Broken windows and empty hallways
A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it’s going to rain today

Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles
With frozen smiles to chase love away
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it’s going to rain today

Lonely, lonely
Tin can at my feet
Think I’ll kick it down the street
That’s the way to treat a friend

Bright before me the signs implore me
To help the needy and show them the way
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it’s going to rain today

  1. Niiice post, Marina. I adore the rain as well, especially the last few months. When it’s raining, there’s no people on the street. Monday I went out for a few supplies. It poured.. like you say sheets. I got happily soaked. The rain was the warmest rain I ever felt! I guess I’m like Hera, puddle to puddle!
    Lovely song!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
Are you having protests in Athens, over the police killing of George Floyd?
    It’s crazy here!
    Be well!!!
    xoxoxo ❤ xoxoxo

    • Oh, yes… getting soaked! I love that too [well, if I don’t have somewhere to go afterwards! 😉 ] and I too enjoy the less crowded streets… the only thing I miss from our lockdown: empty streets!
I loved singing that song when I was little!
Yes, there was one yesterday in front of the American Embassy and they firebombed the embassy and shops.
You too be well and stay safe!
      Crazy times!

      • Ohh, I’m so sorry to hear that there was violence.
“Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars… Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” MLK

  2. thanks for sharing your love of rain especially for those of us who appreciate such enthusiastic weather – the vids were so atmospheric

I can visualise Hera the puddle hound 🙂

    you are a poet too
“Shy drops within seconds became a curtain of water. “

    • Aw, thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed the weather …and words (you’re too kind!). I was actually with another doggy, a retriever… long golden hair… no more!!!! 😂🤣🐾 She did enjoy it though!
Have a lovely weekend and look out for the Strawberry Moon tonight! ❤🌕

  3. I hope you were soon able to dry out Marina… Loved the video’s and Images…. We too have had two days of rain with some heavy bursts just like your video….. A curtain is a great description…. So today is a little catch up time in WP…. The allotments have all been watered by nature 🙂 … Sending Love… and Dusty Springfield a great choice ❤ Love to you ❤

  4. I love this! I am a tad jealous as they called for thunderstorms here that never came. Even the rain was pathetic, at best.
Lovely, wonderful, enjoyable post! And to end with Dusty!

  5. Rain rain rain is right. Beautiful short videos. The last photo is lovely. We’ve been getting thunderstorms mosts nights this week. I haven’t been able to get out and check up on the owlets because of the rain.

      • Thunder clouds rolled in last night last night, but it didn’t rain. Therefore, we made it out to see the owlets. They are getting much better at flying. I can’t go very many days without sunshine. We get around 300 days of sunshine a year out here.

We’re really missing Lola. She slept with me when it was hot or cold. Now that it’s warmer at night, the other kitties are more interested in prowling through the night than curling up with me.

Happy to hear your thoughts
