On this date, June 7, 1958, Prince Rogers Nelson, better known as Prince, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I probably couldn’t add a word to the millions written about him, even if I was a huge fan, which I’m not. But there are many songs of his I liked and still do – not just in nostalgic fashion…

ps I’ve been so busy this weekend [partly with Velasquez and Gauguin too], I haven’t been around…. Tomorrow, I hope to visit! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

      • I wish I was only 42. You know 40 is supposed to be a big deal birthday. On my 40th birthday I left our apartment in Madrid, Spain at the ungodly hour for Spaniards, 6:00 AM. Traveled east outside of Madrid to teach classes at 8:00 am, and then I traveled back into Madrid to teach more classes. After that I travelled to the western edge of Madrid to teach classes, followed by the southern edge of Madrid. I finally ended up in a area north of Madrid to teach the last set of classes at 10:30 pm. I got back to the apartment after midnight. I had spent my 40th birthday crisscrossing Madrid.

I had to move all those classes to one day, my birthday, because I had been in Portugal a couple of days before teach a seminar. Fortunately, that was a one-time super long day. The next few times I went to Portugal, I was able to spread out rescheduling classes.

        • Oh my!!!! You certainly kept busy on your 40th birthday! It would be nice if your students knew and had cakes waiting for you in each class you went!!!! Some birthday that would be!!!!! 😉

          • That would have been nice. When I was in the hospital in 2016, all the nurses threw me a birthday party, cake and all. The doctor who just happened to be there told me later that was the first time he’d seen the nurses get together and through a patient a birthday party. I was their favorite patient because I was low maintenance, I did what they told me to do, I always said yes when they asked if they could deal with other patients before me in their routine, I did not allow them to do things I could do myself so they could attend to other things.
