Astrological signs: Cancer & Leo
and our celestial events…
July 5*: Full Moon [Buck Moon, Thunder Moon or Hay Moon] & Penumbral Lunar Eclipse
July 14: Jupiter at Opposition. The giant planet will be at its closest approach to Earth and its face will be fully illuminated by the Sun. It will be brighter than any other time of the year and will be visible all night long.
JULY 20: Saturn at Opposition. The ringed planet will be at its closest approach to Earth and its face will be fully illuminated by the Sun. It will be brighter than any other time of the year and will be visible all night long.
July 20**: New Moon
JULY 22: Mercury at Greatest Western Elongation. This is the best time to view Mercury since it will be at its highest point above the horizon in the morning sky. Look for the planet low in the eastern sky just before sunrise.
JULY 28-29: July meteor showers: Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower, July 12 to August 23. It peaks on the night of the 28th and morning of the 29th.
*The eclipse will be visible throughout most of North America, South America, the eastern Pacific Ocean, the western Atlantic Ocean, and extreme western Africa [Nada for Europe!]
**The Moon will be located on the same side of the Earth as the Sun, so it won’t be visible in the night sky. This will occur at 17:33 UTC, making it the best time to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters with no moonlight to interfere.

  1. I can’t believe I had to flip my calendar to July! I just flipped to June!
Sweet music to start a sweet month! Thank you, Marina!
OH! WP seems to have fixed the issue. I just commented on Oannes!!!

  2. Another beautiful watercolor. I particularly love the brighter colors against the gray. Seems rather symbolic for this particular July. And thank you for the summary of the month. Since I always have an eye to the sky this is extremely helpful.

    • Ah, thank you, my friend. Funny how such things happen by themselves (the symbolism of July). 😉
I’m glad you found the celestial events helpful. I’ve always wanted a good telescope with camera… well, and a good spot to set it up! Not asking much, am I?!!!

  3. Happy July 1 Hump Day! The colors of this piece suggest to me that when it gets too hot above, I can dive into the cool below 🙂

    • A ha ha ha, Mary Jo, I haven’t heard something as brilliant as this! I love it! Thank you so much! Maybe I’ll do that too! 😘😉 Happy July, my friend! 😘🤗🥰

    • Ah, thank you so much Hedy! I had to look up their name as I see them every day! I don’t think someone has planted them but the look so beautiful and lots of colors too!!! 🤗😘🤗😘 Many smiles to you!

  4. Happy July my friend. A full moon is approaching. Seeing a touch of the Marina Swoosh in the trees made me smile. The jazz piano is a nice touch. Yamas!
