We will hear some songs of childhood nostalgia, written by well-known artists, or not very much so.
We start with one of my favorite Neil Young‘s songs.

◼︎

There is a town in north Ontario,
With dream comfort memory to spare,
And in my mind
I still need a place to go,
All my changes were there.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.
Leave us

Helpless, helpless, helpless
Baby can you hear me now?
The chains are locked
and tied across the door,
Baby, sing with me somehow.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.
Leave us

Helpless, helpless, helpless.

and a “Yellow moon on the rise” from me…

Enjoy!

and

Stay Safe!

  1. I really like Neil’s music but it seems he hasn’t grown with the times. He made a snide and dismissive remark about Justin Bieber on TV just when the latter was starting out, as if Bieb’s music was a joke compared to Neil’s. That’s how I interpreted it anyhow. Meanwhile, Bieber’s “You don’t need no filter” tune really speaks to me. They always radio play it when I go for late-night food shops. I think this a mature tune – https://youtu.be/zLY6VX74ulk
Anyhow… just my two bits from a fellow music lover. 🙂

    • Would you believe I’d never heard one Bieber song? I’ll go check the link later. My ears are always open. As for NY he writes great lyrics and has composed a few great songs too. I wouldn’t however add him to my top list. That said, I love that song! 😉

      • Yeah, I like a good number of his songs but it’s mostly likely a regional thing. He grew up in a small Ontario town not too far from where I live. His father was a sports writer for one of our papers… 🙂

  2. Perfect pairing, Marina (mind you… if your hubs had put Harvest Moon, it would have been even more “perfecter”! )
    Love me some Neil Young..

Happy to hear your thoughts
