Ένα παλιό, εποχής This Was τραγούδι των Jethro Tull, που κυκλοφόρησε για πρώτη φορά σε άλμπουμ τέσσερα χρόνια αργότερα – στο διπλό compilation Living In The Past του ’72.
Ένα μικρό ανεκτίμητο διαμάντι, και ένα από τα πιο αγαπημένα μου, διαχρονικά, τραγούδια του Ian Anderson.

An old Jethro Tull song, from This Was era, which was released on the compilation – double vinyl Living In The Past album, 4 years later, in 1972.
A little precious jewel, and one of my favorite Ian Anderson songs of all times.

❝ Once in Royal David’s City stood a lonely cattle shed,
Where a mother held her baby.
You’d do well to remember the things He later said.
When you’re stuffing yourselves at the Christmas parties,
You’ll just laugh when I tell you to take a running jump.
You’re missing the point I’m sure does not need making
That Christmas spirit is not what you drink.
So how can you laugh when your own mother’s hungry,
And how can you smile when the reasons for smiling are wrong?
And if I just messed up your thoughtless pleasures,
Remember, if you wish, this is just a Christmas song. ❞

Stay Safe!

As always, I’m happy to hear your thoughts, however I’d highly recommend a direct dialogue with the …’source’ so please visit Oannes’ page where you can also listen to the song !

More about these reblogs

* For my friends who didn’t know, or first timers here, Oannes [aka Socratis Papahatzis] is my husband, partner in life and music and the one with my undying admiration. Together we have a band MK-O [the music of Marina Kanavaki & Oannes]. So, it’s my pleasure to share with you his [and sometimes mine] musical selections. Do visit his site. He has my highest recommendation!

  1. Thanks for the beautiful music and blogs throughout the year, Marina! I hope you had a lovely Christmas 🙂 Wishing you all the best in the New Year!

    • Ah, thank YOU, my dearest Christy for joining me in that journey. It’s been a pleasure following your journey too!
My warmest wishes to you too for a better (much better) 2021!

  2. A wonderful blast from the past Marina! And what a creative header! Your artwork isn’t visible when you read from the reader unless you visit the site (an annoyance that WP should address). I went looking after I read Mark’s comment😍

  3. Appropriate for the Season. I picked up a Jethro Tull Christmas CD in a bargain bin several years ago. It’s really quite good. I have stored away with other CDs. I might go see if I can find it that you you reminded me of it.

  4. Jethro Tull– they liked hats!!– and hair!! But the very best hat of all is the little Santa hat you added to your ‘M’ logo in your Art Towards A Happy Day header image, now nicely dressed up in Christmas red and green!!– brilliant, my dear Marina!!

    A very Merry Christmas to one of the best influences on the planet, and one of my all-time favorite people!! Thanks for being YOU!! May God bless you abundantly in the new year, and may MK-O soar up the charts and dominate the sound waves from sea to shining sea!!! 👍 💪 😊 🎄 🌊 🎶 🌊 🚀 🌖 💥 🚑 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 👽 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 😋 💦 😘

    • Awwww… you noticed!!!! Thank you, my kind friend. Just trying to add a little happy note… against all odds! 😉
A very Merry Merry Christmas to you too! Zeus has a special place for you for mortals to worship… I proud to be one of them!
      Happy days, my dearest friend.
