Ένα είδος εμμονής του Brahms με το έργο του Beethoven, τον έκανε να μην αισθάνεται άνετα με τη συνθεση συμφωνιών. Ίσως αυτός να είναι ο λόγος που έγραψε μόνο τέσσερεις…Αυτό που εισπράττει βέβαια κανείς, ακούγοντάς τες, δεν έχει καμία σχέση με “δυσκολία”.
Κλασικό παράδειγμα είναι το Allegro Non Troppo, πρώτο μέρος της 4ης Συμφωνίας του : 13 λεπτά απόλυτης τελειότητας…

A kind of obsession Brahms had with Beethoven’s work, made him uncomfortable with composing symphonies. Maybe that’s why he wrote only four… What one gets, of course, by listening to them, has nothing to do with “difficulty”.
A classic example is Allegro Non Troppo, first part of his 4th Symphony: 13 minutes of absolute perfection…
