Lately I have been rebloging music videos from Oannes new blog. For my friends who didn’t know, or wonder why…. Oannes [aka Socratis Papahatzis] is my husband, partner in life and music and the one with my undying admiration. Together we have a band MK-O [the music of Marina Kanavaki & Oannes]. So, it’s my pleasure to share with you his [and mine] musical selections.

About Oannes in his own words:
Self presentation can be a tedious process and rather awkward. So, to cut a long story short: I’ve worked for some years as a professional musician, and for many more as editor-in-chief in magazines / newspapers and as a radio producer. I’ve studied at the Hellenic Conservatory [piano, musical theory] and at the Law School of Thessaloniki, which I left to devote myself to music. I have released several albums in alternative labels, most of them by the name of MK-O, with my wife Marina Kanavaki.
His new blog: Oannes.gr is about:
Singularity, the politics of virtual, anti-social media, music in the age of ringtones…
Although here I reblog mainly his musical selections, he writes exceptional articles on various topics [some may need Google Translate / sidebar], so do visit his site. He has my highest recommendation! 😉

Dear Marina,
Greetings! I haven’t heard from you for quite a while, Marina. Your enduring interest in art must have been keeping you as busy as ever. So I have come over to pay you a visit and to read some of your posts and comments.
I have also been to MK-O, the website of your husband, Oannes [aka Socratis Papahatzis]. It is very nicely done and full of creative contents. I would like to inform you and Oannes that when I tried to listen to the music tracks, I received the following message:
A lot has happened to me in recent years. Then, I lost my mother late last year after being her full-time carer for many years, and am still mourning her passing. You can read about my musical journey with my late mother in the multimedia eulogy/memoir/biography published in a post entitled “Khai & Khim: For Always and Beyond Goodbye”.
I have since found the time and resolve to resurrect some of my piano compositions. Since you and Oannes both play and read music, I thought that you might be interested in some of the music scores as well as music tracks that I recently published at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2020/04/12/the-last-rag/
Given the unusual and difficult situation created by the viral pandemic, I hope that you and your family will remain safe and sound. Moreover, may you find the rest of 2020 very much to your liking and highly conducive to your painting, writing, thinking and blogging!

My dear SoundEagle, I’m so sorry to hear about your mother passing… She will always be in your heart and your melodies.
I hadn’t seen new posts from you, but I visited your beautiful post now.
Because of your comment I went and checked and I realized that cd baby had changed policies…. I know right… well, thank you very much for letting me know. Now I have to go and re-wire everything… 😱
Thank you so much for all your kind words too, my friend and keep creating and stay safe!
ps we are all well! 🙂

Dear Marina,
Thank you for your kind words. I have written and published a very special and expansive multimedia eulogu-cum-memoir-cum-biography at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2019/08/31/khai-khim-for-always-and-beyond-goodbye/
I hope that you will like the format, layout and presentation as well as the spiritual and emotional depths of the multimedia post there, and I would really love to know what you think of this post, given that you have a keen eye for art and an attuned aesthetic sensibility, not to mention your humanity and empathy. I look forward to reading your feedback there. At the post, you can also enjoy listening to a lot of my musical compositions (both original and arranged ones), many of which are dedicated to my late mother, whom I still mourn and miss dearly every day.
Happy May to you and Oannes!

Huh. I’ve never found self-presentation tedious– probably because people are always calling me up on stage to take a bow… 👍🏆😊

The problem (for me) is that I can’t do email subscriptions to blogs, I need the posts to show up in my Reader, so I will have to continue to visit his blog through links you provide… But i do like the music he has been posting!

Thank you, my friend! Yes, I understand that. I thought he had a ‘follow’ button, so that he shows up in your reader [that’s how I see his posts too!] but thanks for letting me know and -of course- for your interest! I really appreciate it! 🙂

I’ll look again, but all I saw before was a way subscribe via email.

I did try doing the email subscription, since sometimes that makes it show up in my Reader, but it didn’t work. Then I tried copying the URL, going to the manage subscriptions and forcing it in – I was able to get it that way… I hope – we’ll see when he next posts 🙂

Ah, thanks so much! It really ought to be a straight forward thing to do, but it seems that the more ‘advanced’ a version, the less user friendly it gets! What can I say! Thanks for the effort though!!!!!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
