Sofia Gubaiduina’s “The Canticle Of The Sun” is based on the religious chant of the same name by St. Francis of Assisi. It is dedicated by the great Russian composer to Mstslav Rostropovitch.
We hear the first part, Glorification Of The Creator, And His Creations (The Sun And The Moon), from the ECM edition : Nicolas Altstaedt [cello], Riga Chamber Choir, Andrei Pushkrev / Richard Zalupe [percussion], Rostislav Krimer [celeste]
