Το Passion Play αποτελείται, όπως και το προηγούμενό του, Thick As A Brick [επίσης νούμερο 1…]

Interestingly, this now forgotten JT’s masterpiece, despite the “bad reviews”, had reached number one on the American Billboard at the time of its release [1973]. In other words, a position occupied nowadays by personalities like Beyonce and Rihanna. Like its predecessor, Thick As A Brick [also number 1…] Passion Play is consisted of a “single” composition, essentially a suite divided in two parts / sides of the original vinyl. We hear the first part/side. Passion Play is one of the three albums where Ian Anderson tries his luck on the soprano saxophone.

More about these reblogs

Lately I have been rebloging music videos from Oannes new blog. For my friends who didn’t know, or wonder why…. Oannes [aka Socratis Papahatzis] is my husband, partner in life and music and the one with my undying admiration. Together we have a band MK-O [the music of Marina Kanavaki & Oannes]. So, it’s my pleasure to share with you his [and mine] musical selections. Although here I reblog mainly his musical selections, he writes exceptional articles on various topics [some may need translation], so do visit his site. He has my highest recommendation!

  1. Boy they were a great and unique band. I,d take them as an exemplar of ‘progressive rock’ over any of the usual candidates hoisted up there, like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and so on.

  2. I remember when the album came out. Is was progressive a cool; however, as a hyperactive teenager, I remember not being about to sit and listen to a full side of the album all at one time. Back in those days we had to be relatively still to listen to music as portable music was not yet available (the Walkman Cassette players were not available until 1979).

    • It makes sense, however for a teenager musician this was ‘hyperactive’ brain activity!!!! 😉 Walkman Cassette player was sheer bliss when it came out! 🙂
