Από τις σημαντικές φυσιογνωμίες του μήνα, και της εποχής γενικότερα, ο André Previn [1929 – 2019], διευθυντής ορχήστρας, κλασικός και jazz πιανίστας, συνθέτης “σοβαράς” μουσικής αλλά και soundtracks. Θα αναφερθούμε, Θεού θέλοντος, σε όλες τις πτυχές του έργου του, ξεκινώντας από αυτήν του μαέστρου : διαλέγουμε το Κονσέρτο για Βιόλα του αξιόλογου Βρετανού συνθέτη του 20ου αιώνα William Walton [απ’ τους πολλούς που δεν προλάβαμε να καλύψουμε στο αφιέρωμα του προηγούμενου μήνα].
Ακούμε το πρώτο μέρος του, Andante Comodo, με τον AP στη διεύθυνση της Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Στη βιόλα, για μοναδική φορά στην καριέρα του, ο βιολιστής Nigel Kennedy.

Among the important figures of the month, and of the era in general, was André Previn [1929 – 2019], conductor, classical and jazz pianist, composer of “serious” music and soundtracks. We will refer, God willing, to all aspects of his work, starting with the one conductor : we pick Viola Concerto by the remarkable British composer of the 20th century William Walton [one of too many we didn’t manage to cover on previous month’s tribute].
We hear the first part of it, Andante Comodo, with AP conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
On the viola, for once in his career, violinist Nigel Kennedy.
