-Το πρώτο “The Picture” είναι από το άλμπουμ του Jan Garbarek Group [John Taylor- p, BIll Connors – g, Eberhard Weber – b, Jon Christensen – d] Photo With Blue Sky, White Cloud, Wires, Windows and Red Roof [1979]
-Το δεύτερο είναι το ομώνυμο κομμάτι από το άλμπουμ του I Took Up The Runes του 1990.

On this date, March 4, 1947, Jan Garbarek, one of the greatest living saxophonists, was born in Mysen, Norway. His list of releases as a leader, and his collaborations with leading musicians from the jazz and classical field, is endless. From a career spanking over 6 decades [he started recording in the late ’60s] we pick “randomly” three tracks:
-The first one, “The Picture” is from the album by Jan Garbarek Group [John Taylor-p, BIll Connors – g, Eberhard Weber – b, Jon Christensen – d] Photo With Blue Sky, White Cloud, Wires, Windows and Red Roof [1979].
-The second one is the title track from his 1990 album I Took Up The Runes.
-And the third one comes from a collaboration of JG with the early music vocal group, Hilliard Ensemble. “Parce Mihi Domine” is written by the Spanish 16th century composer Cristobal De Morales.

More about these reblogs

Lately I have been rebloging music videos from Oannes new blog. For my friends who didn’t know, or wonder why…. Oannes [aka Socratis Papahatzis] is my husband, partner in life and music and the one with my undying admiration. Together we have a band MK-O [the music of Marina Kanavaki & Oannes]. So, it’s my pleasure to share with you his [and mine] musical selections. Although here I reblog mainly his musical selections, he writes exceptional articles on various topics [some may need translation], so do visit his site. He has my highest recommendation!
