Ακούμε το πρώτο μέρος, ‘Ob Rechts, Ob Links’ από την Κλίμακα του Ιακώβ, του Arnold Schönberg. Το ορατόριο σηματοδοτεί το πέρασμα του συνθέτη, εκ των κορυφαίων του 20ου αι., από την ελεύθερη ατονικότητα στο σειραϊσμό. Η ενορχήστρωση σημαντικού μέρους του έργου ολοκληρώθηκε μετά το θάνατο του Schönberg, από τον μαθητή του Winfried Zillig. Το ακούμε στην ερμηνεία αναφοράς του Pierre Boulez με τους BBC Singers και την BBC Symphony Orchestra. Και στη συνέχεια [04:55] το νεανικό έργο για εκ. όργανο, “Η Εμφάνιση της Αιώνιας Εκκλησίας”, του Olivier Messiaen, συνθέτη κατ’ εξοχήν εμπνευσμένου από θρησκευτικά θέματα, και επίσης από τους μεγαλύτερους του 20 αι. We hear the first part, ‘Ob Rechts, Ob Links’ from Jacob’s Ladder by Arnold Schönberg. The oratorio marks the transition of the composer, one of the greatest of the 20th century, from free atonality to serialism. The orchestration of a significant part of the work was completed after Schoenberg’s death by his student Winfried Zillig. We hear it in Pierre Boulez’s reference performance with BBC Singers and BBC Symphony Orchestra. And after that [04:55] “The Appearance of the Eternal Church”, written for organ by a young Olivier Messiaen, a composer par excellence inspired by religious themes and, also, one of the greatest of the 20th century. On the keyboard: Marie – Claire Alain.
