Music by Henry Purcell, prominent figure of British Baroque, on the occasion of the funeral ceremony for Queen Mary III [March 1695]. The work was also performed at the funeral of the composer himself, in November of the same year.
The introductory [and concluding] March is best known in Walter [Wendy] Carlos’ electronic version heard on the film “A Clockwork Orange”.
