O Louis Moreau Gottschalk ήταν ένας από τους πρώτους Αμερικανούς συνθέτες “κλασικής” μουσικής. Η δραστηριότητά του εκτυλίχθηκε κυρίως μακρυά από το [άγονο ακόμα γι’ αυτήν] αμερικανικό έδαφος. Αλλά και στην Ευρώπη τα πράγματα δεν ήταν πολύ πιο εύκολα …ακριβώς λόγω της αμερικανικής του εθνικότητας. Ευτυχώς γι’ αυτόν, εκτός απο συνθέτης ήταν και πιανίστας, και μάλιστα απ’ ότι φαίνεται σπουδαίος, αφού κατάφερε να προκαλέσει το θαυμασμό ανθρώπων όπως ο Λιστ και ο Σοπέν..

Louis Moreau Gottschalk was one of the first American classical composers of “classical” music. His creative activity was mainly unfolded away from the [infertile back then] American territory. But in Europe things were not much easier…because of his American nationality. Fortunately for him, apart from been a composer, he was also a pianist, and a great one it seems, since people like Liszt and Chopin were among his admirers…
