Θα μπορούσε να πει κανείς ότι, με όχημα κυρίως τη μουσική, μέσω των κλασικών sci fi ταινιών και σίριαλ, λαμβάνει χώρα η μύηση του θεατή σε μια κουλτούρα σασπένς και επαπειλούμενης απειλής, μόνιμης όπως και η υπόσχεση της περιπέτειας, που αποτελεί αντίπαλο δέος της.
Θα μπορούσαν να βρίσκονται εδώ οι ρίζες της “κανονικοποίησης του έκτακτου”, για την οποία γίνεται λόγος στις μέρες μας;
Δείγμα αυτού είναι η απαιτητική μουσική των John Williams και Alexander Courage [συνθέτης του θέματος του Star Trek] για το πιλοτικό επεισόδιο της σειράς Land Of The Giants.

Someone could argue that, mainly by music, what’ s taking place through the classic sci fi films and serials is the initiation of the viewer into a culture of suspense and impending threat, permanent as the promise of adventure, its opposite pole. Could these be the roots of the “normalization of the extraordinary” that people talk about nowadays ?
A token of this is the demanding music of John Williams and Alexander Courage [composer of the Star Trek theme] for the pilot episode of the Land Of The Giants series.
