Ακούμε “Nuestro Tempo” από το Quinteto Nuevo Tango. Τα μέρη: Bordel 1900, Cafe 1930, Nightclub 1960, Concert d’ aujourd’hui.

Today, March 11, 1921, in Mar de la Plata, the great Argentinian, Italian born composer/ bandoneonist Astor Piazzola was born. A rejuvenator of Argentinian music, creator of nuevo tango. In his music the rigour of classical and the feeling of popular form are in perfect harmony, bringing out a transcendent melodic talent. I had the opportunity to attend Piazzola’s concert in Herodes Atticus Theatre [1990], which was meant to be his last. We hear “Nuestro Tempo” from Quinteto Nuevo Tango. “Obivion” from the violin player Gidon Kremer’s tribute to the composer. Finally, Irmgard Toepper, Hugo German Gaido perform the suite for flute and guitar Historie De Tango. The parts: Bordel 1900, Cafe 1930, Nightclub 1960, Concert d’ aujourd’hui.

More about these reblogs

Lately I have been rebloging music videos from Oannes new blog. For my friends who didn’t know, or wonder why…. Oannes [aka Socratis Papahatzis] is my husband, partner in life and music and the one with my undying admiration. Together we have a band MK-O [the music of Marina Kanavaki & Oannes]. So, it’s my pleasure to share with you his [and mine] musical selections. Although here I reblog mainly his musical selections, he writes exceptional articles on various topics [some may need translation], so do visit his site. He has my highest recommendation!
