Απόδειξη μεταξύ άλλων, αποτελεί το φινάλε της Φανταστικής Συμφωνίας του, “Songe d’une nuit du sabbat” (Dream of a witches’ Sabbath) :
Hector Berlioz was one of the most innovative [this does not necessarily mean most talented] musicians of all time. A testament to this, among others is the finale of his Fantastic Symphony, “Songe d’une nuit du sabbat” (Dream of a witches’ Sabbath) :
The [autobiographical] hero of the play “poisoned with opium” is transported in his dream to a satanic ceremony.
It is difficult to imagine the impression aroused by Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique at the time of its premiere [December 1830]
