A song probably forgotten, from a forgotten album of the early ‘70s. Full of amazing moments, though, and surely worth listening or discovering. It’s the Dutch band Focus from their epic [double vinyl] third album. The progressive – jazz – rock band’s masterminds were singer – keyboard player – flutist Thijs Van Leer [composer of the song] and the guitar player Jan Akkerman.
The lyrics of the “dreamy” part are in latin [translation by Google]◼︎
❝ Extemplo libyae magnas it fama per urbes,
Fama, malum qua non aliud velocius ullum.
Mobilitate viget virisque adquirit eundo;
Parva metu primo, mox sese attollit in auras.
Ingrediturque solo et caput inter nubila condit. ❞translation
❝ Imediately Rumor runs through cities;
Rumor of all evils the most swift.
Thrives on mobility and power flow;
Small at first through fear, soon she mounts up to heaven.
Walks on the ground and her head in the clouds.❞
