Μετά τον θάνατο του Chick Corea, ο Keith Jarrett είναι χωρίς αντίπαλο ο μεγαλύτερος εν ζωη jazz πιανίστας – όχι δυστυχώς και εν ενεργεία, τα τελευταία 5 χρόνια.
Πίσω στο 1980, o μουσικός περιέγραφε το άλμπουμ με ύμνους του Gurdjieff που ηχογράφησε για την ECM ως, εκτός των άλλων, ένα είδος σπουδής στην “εξαφάνιση της προσωπικότητας”. Στην πράξη αυτό σήμαινε αποχή από αυτοσχεδιαστικές παρεμβάσεις στη μουσική του Ελληνοαρμένιου μύστη, από τις διδασκαλίες του οποίου δήλωνε επηρεασμένος. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι ταιριαστό, νομίζω, με το πνεύμα της ημέρας. Καλό Πάσχα!

After Chick Corea’s death, Keith Jarrett is unrivaled the greatest living jazz pianist – unfortunately, not active for the last 5 years.
Back in 1980, the musician described 1980 album of Gurdjieff’s hymns for ECM as, among other things, a kind of study in the “disappearance of personality”. In practice, this meant refraining from improvisational interventions on the music of Greek-Armenian mystic, by whose teachings he considered himself influenced.
The result is fitting, in my view, with the spirit of the day.
