Νύχτα, δίπλα στο σιντριβάνι, με την υπηρέτριά της Alisia, η Lucia περιμένει τον Edgardo.
Η ηρωΐδα θυμάται την εμφάνιση, στο ίδιο σημείο, του φαντάσματος μιας γυναίκας δολοφονημένης από ένα πρόγονό του. Η Alicia ερμηνεύει την εμφάνιση σαν κακό οιωνό, όμως η Lucia είναι πολύ ερωτευμένη για να ακούσει.

At night, by the fountain, Lucia is waiting for Edgardo with her servant Alicia.
The heroin recalls the emergence, on this very spot, of a woman’s ghost, killed by one of his ancestors.
Alicia sees this as a bad omen, but Lucia is too much in love to listen.
