Στο έργο του Γιόχαν Σεμπάστιαν Μπαχ σημειώνεται η αποκορύφωση του μπαρόκ ως είδους, ενώ, σύγχρονοί του συνθέτες, με επικεφαλής τους γιούς του, οδηγούν ήδη τη μουσική σε νεωτερικά μονοπάτια, περισσότερο μελωδικά, λιγότερο περίπλοκα. Ο Μπαχ, αγέρωχα ασυμβίβαστος με τις “επιταγές του καιρού”, θα ακολουθήσει δικό του δρόμο, παράγοντας ένα έργο που στέκεται πάνω από εποχές, κατηγοριοποιήσεις, και συγκρίσεις.
Πρόκειται για τον επιφανέστερο των γεννημένων Μάρτιο [και οποιοδήποτε άλλο μήνα] συνθετών. Οι περιστάσεις δεν επιτρέπουν ένα εκτεταμένο αφιέρωμα, θα επανορθώσουμε όμως, Θεού θέλοντος, τις μέρες της Μ. Εβδομάδας.

Johann Sebastian Bach’s work is the culmination of the Baroque genre, in a time where his contemporary composers, his sons prominent among them, lead music to new paths, less complex and more melodic. Bach, imperiously incompatible with the trends, would follow his own path, producing a work that stands beyond eras, categorizations … and comparisons.
He is the greatest among composers born in March [or any other month].
Circumstances do not allow for an extended tribute, but we will make up for it, God willing, on the forthcoming Holy Week.
