Στο πυκνοκατοικημένο Μαρτιάτικο κλαμπ και ο σπουδαίος Bix Beiderbecke [Leon Bismark Beiderbecke, 1903-1931], κορνετίστας, πιανίστας, συνθέτης και εμβληματική φυσιογνωμία της πρώτης περιόδου της jazz. Το παίξιμο του, στους λυρικούς αντίποδες της πιο άμεσης προσέγγισης του Louis Armstrong, προαναγγέλει για κάποιους, δεκαετίες πριν, τον ήχο του Miles Davis. Ο Bix, πρόσφερε συν τοις άλλοις στην jazz τον πρώτο σε μια μακρά παράδοση από “μάρτυρες” : οι καταχρήσεις και η ζωή στο δρόμο τον οδήγησαν στον θάνατο σε ηλικία μόλις 28 χρόνων…Το δεύτερο από τα κομμάτια που ακούμε είναι δική του σύνθεση, με τον ίδιο στο πιάνο.

The great cornetist, pianist, composer and iconic early jazz figure, Bix Beiderbecke [Leon Bismark Beiderbecke, 1903-1931], is also a member of the densely populated March born club. His playing, οn the lyrical opposite of Louis Armstrong’s rower approach, anticipates, as some say, the sound of Miles Davis. Among other things, Bix gave jazz the first in a long legacy of “martyrs” : alcohol abuse and the life on the road led him to death at the age of 28…The second song from the ones we’re hearing is a composition of his own, with him on the piano.
