Oannes for Chick Corea

Προφανώς δεν έχει νόημα να αρχίσεις καν να ξεχωρίζεις ορόσημα στην πορεία ενός ανθρώπου που πέρασε τη ζωή του σαν διάμεσο της μουσικής, “εργαλειοποιημένος” από αυτήν, επιδιώκοντας την συνεύρεση με όλο και περισσότερους, παλιούς και νέους συνεργάτες. Αν έπρεπε για “συναισθηματικούς λόγους” να διαλέξω μια απ’ τις συνεργασίες του Chick Corea, θα ήταν εκείνη με τον βιμπραφωνίστα Gary Burton : δεν συναντάς συχνά τέτοιο συνδυασμό, απλησίαστου επιπέδου μουσικών, και υπερβατικής χημείας μεταξύ τους.

There is no meaning in starting to pick “landmarks” in the career of a person who spent his whole life as a medium of music, totaly “utilized” by it, cherishing human contact through numerous collaborations. If I should pick only one of Chick Corea‘s partnerships, for “sentimental reasons”, it would be the one with the vibraphonist Gary Burton. You seldom meet a combination like this : transcendent chemistry between artists of unparalleled value.
We hear them on the Corea classic, from their penultimate album.
