from Oannes *

Κάτι ανάλαφρο από ένα μουσικό που, έχοντας μεταναστεύσει στις ΗΠΑ από την Τσεχοσλοβακία [late ‘60s], ξεκίνησε με εξαιρετικά υψηλές προδιαγραφές [Sarah Vaughan, Mahavishnu Orcheastra, Al Dimeola, Jeff Beck, John Abercrombie…] πριν θέσει κάποια στιγμή [middle ‘80s] το ταλέντο του στην υπηρεσία της τηλεόρασης. Tο συμβόλαιο με τους παραγωγούς του Miami Vice περιλάμβανε “υπεράνθρωπες” απαιτήσεις για νέο υλικό επί εβδομαδιαίας βάσεως. Ο Jan Hammer αντεπεξήλθε με αξιοσημείωτη επιτυχία επί 4 ολόκληρα χρόνια, αξιοποιώντας την ηλεκτρονική τεχνολογία που βρισκόταν τότε σε εκρηκτική ανάπτυξη. Ακούμε δυο μικρά κομμάτια που προσωπικά βρίσκω ευχάριστα και δροσιστικά.

Something lighthearted from a musician who, having emigrated to the U.S. from Czechoslovakia [late ’60s], began with extremely high standards [Sarah Vaughan, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Al Dimeola, Jeff Beck, John Abercrombie…] before putting [middle ’80s] his talent in the service of television. The contract with Miami Vice’s producers included “superhuman” requirements for new material on a weekly basis. Jan Hammer achieved remarkable success for 4 whole years, utilizing the electronic technology that was then explosively expanding. We hear two little pieces that I personally find pleasant and refreshing.
