As the basis for his Seventh Symphony, the British composer used reworked material from his epic soundtrack for the film ‘Scott of The Antarctic’ [1948, dir. Charles Frend, prot. John Mills] The film was about captain Scott’s exploratory expedition to Antarctica in 1912.
We hear the first part of Sinfonia Antarctica, Prelude, Andante Maestoso. Sir Adrian Boult is conducting the London Philharmonic.
