What a funny coincidence: I just picked up a CD of some of his most famous songs, called “The Early Years.” I’d never heard this one, nor any of the songs on the mockingly titled “Greatest Hits,” which I believe was his last album. I’ve always thought his “Changes” is one of the most beautiful songs ever written; sends me into a trance every time. His sad end and the fact that he’s almost entirely forgotten today, are true tragedies. Hmm… I seem to be getting very serious and maudlin… time to blast off! 🚀☁️☁️#9🌖💥🚑👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨😋
Such a nice coincidence! I’m so happy this reminded you of a song close to your heart… [I just listened to it, as I hadn’t heard it before and I can understand how and why it sends you in a trance. It is indeed a beautiful song!] Very sad that he’s forgotten… I hope you enjoyed ‘Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and me’. 🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨
Phil Ochs was always one of my favorites. A gifted poet. and one of the best vocalists of his generation. I saw him in concert once at a small coffeehouse in Detroit. Gone too soon.
I’ve a very vivid memory of his performance. If you ever hear his “in concert” albums, he had a running commentary between songs that was quite funny, in a wicked satirical way.
