Fading Away…

As the week is fading
here’s a fading view of the city
behind a fading, rusty wire…

while listening to:

Dmitri Shostakovich

Symphonie Nr. 9: 2. Moderato
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra · conductor: Vladimir Ashkenazy

A beautiful weekend everyone!

  1. Uh-oh! I leaned in too close, and snagged my sweater on the wire. I tore a hole in it getting free– but that’s good. There was a bad ambrosia stain in that spot, and now I won’t have to send the sweater to the cleaners. I love happy endings, don’t you? 👍😊

    • Oh, yes I do! Especially your happy endings. So does Zeus, who sends you rivers of ambrosia!!!!! 🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨…….

    • Awwww….. please please please, I am not a photographer and these were taken (I’m ashamed to say) with my phone camera! On my doggy walks it’s hard carrying a camera… I just take these as reminders of pictures I see. Thank you so much for the reblog and most flattering compliments! 🙏🙂

  2. Beautiful photography dear Marina.. The weekend was peaceful, to day was energetic, ( digging ) . I hope those clouds are now clearing from your skies..
Love and hugs your way my friend ❤

  3. Very neat shots, Marina! You take some very interesting pics!
I had a fab weekend doing taxes, but they are done! I’m taking them in tomorrow!!
    xoxoxoxoxoxooooooooxo
    Have a wonderful week!

    • Oh, at last!!!!! I can imagine your [double] joy leaving the taxes and maybe photographing some interesting murals I seem to recall you found round there! 😉
Thank you for the compliment! I just fell in love with that rusty wire and all that was ‘happening’ around it! 😉
You too have a beautiful [at last] tax-free week!
      much much love

      from Hera too! woof!!!!!!!!
      xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

      • Yes, I’m excited about the new murals. They happen to be by my accountant’s. One good thing!
I did sneak in a PBH post on Art Gowns, but it’s taking me time answering the comments. I’ll be able to catch up lots after tomorrow.
That rusty wire is very neat, just don’t get cut on it! WOOF to Hera!

        • Yes, I remember!!!!! I can’t wait to see! 🙂
          I’ll go visit your Art Gowns [I wonder why I didn’t get a notification…]
I know, with rust… not that I would go that close and get cut but I had a Tetanus shot last year, so I’m covered for… a decade I think! 😉

  4. Nice shots with the twisted wire – especially the last two. Personally, love the Russian composers! His Festive Overture absolutely one of my favorites!

    • As you probably know, me too [on Russian composers] especially this sombre and hard-faced composer 😉 ! Thanks, my friend! You picked first and last of the session! 😉

  5. The symbolism in these photos was brilliant. We see the world, but many times behind barriers that are placed in front of us. And yet, we prevail and overcome. We are resilient. We see the beauty in the horizon and move beyond what tries to hold us back.

    • “…We see the beauty in the horizon and move beyond what tries to hold us back” So well said, Rebecca. Thank you so much for this beautifully insightful comment! Enjoy a wonderful weekend! 🙂 xoxoxo

  6. Very effective, Marina. I like pics like this, and you do it superbly. Now, how about you jump the wire and get right down into the city with your cam? I want to see the real Athens! 😎😁🤓I’m sick of all this touristy stuff on YouTube…😁😄😆

    • City shots?!!!!! Not my cup of tea! 😉 Skies – Clouds – Seas -Earth – Stones – and animals! In other words nothing human made [or humans for that matter! 😉 ], unless it’s abandoned or …abstract! 😉 . 😂🤣😂🤣
btw I’m also sic of the touristy stuff! 😉

      • Fair enough! Myself I would love to take people pics but usually don’t for two main reasons… privacy concerns when web posting… and city traffic! I took photos of rusty shovels and wind vanes with bullet holes thru them etc back in the day… so feel I’ve mostly covered that ground in my artistic development. 🙂🌈🙂

        • “rusty shovels and wind vanes with bullet holes thru them” sound very interesting! I know what you mean. The closer I’ve gotten to city shots were my colored bubbles from the raindrops on my windshield while …driving! 😉 But I somehow managed to make that abstract too! 😉 Even from our apartment [in the city] when I photograph a sunrise, or rain etc I erase [by either cutting or bluring to abstraction] buildings that may …intrude! 😉

          • Yeah, I was in an oppressed neighborhood the other day and tempted to take some ultra-bleak shots, but I didn’t! 😊The windvane was as old as my great-grandpa, one of the first “settlers” on our old Island.. People seemed to like to use the vane for target practice… before the gov stepped in with new rules and regs! One day I’ll dig up those photos and scan them. Somewhere in a shoebox… it’s a whole series of “life out of balance” themed shots… 😊🙂

  7. These images are great, Marina, and quite abstract. I like them very much. Have a wonderful weekend too xx

    • Ah, Izzy, thank you so much. I’m so happy to hear that! I began by taking that old chimney but then the wire ‘pulled me in’! 😉 Enjoy a beautiful weekend! xoxoxoxo

  8. May all barbed wired rust and fade. Excellent photos and music, whose composer knew well the arts should not and cannot be restrained by the state. Have a beautiful weekend as well!

    • Indeed, my dear Mary Jo, and yes, the composer knew this well! Thankfully this was a simple old fence of someone’s land.. well, what’s left of it! 😉 Enjoy the weekend! xoxo
