Last Saturday,
I waited for the moon to rise behind the pine trees.
A feathered friend gave me a heads up!

Moon was 99% full!
Ottorino Respighi [1879 – 1936]
an Italian composer, violinist,
and one of the leading Italian composers of the early 20th century,
was born today,
July 9,
so accompanying the moon,
here is:
Ancient Airs and Dances, Suite n. 3
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, dir. Herbert von Karajan
&
Pini di Roma [Pines of Rome]
André Rieu, over 500 brass players & the Johann Strauss Orchestra performing Pini di Roma live in Amsterdam
Enjoy!

Spectacular, Marina Lucky you! Fab shots. We rarely get any great shots of the sun rising over the high rises, setting behind the high rises or the moon doing anything. Sometimes the clouds clear up, and there it is!…The moon in the sky.
So, thank you for this! Just finishing listening to Pini di Roma. Sensational! Will listen to the suite tonight, when I’m drawing; that and Ennio #4 on Oannes!

Awwww…. we’re keeping you busy! 😉 I was lucky to be in Theologos when I took those shots. It’s always so nice there. As I often say, if only we could live there permanently. Cities are killers of night skies!
Hope you enjoy listening!
Big hug and 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

My favorite Respighi is the “The Pines of Rome,” with its dramatic build-up at the end.

Brilliant built up indeed. Not the version I had in mind (Rieu) but does it justice.

That’s exactly how I felt and it wasn’t even a close moon! It would be overwhelming seeing a super moon from that spot! 🙏😊
