Double sunrise rainbow

Gandalf greeted me

with a smile

& a rainbow

but “look” he said

& as I turned further left,

I saw another one

“wait” he said “there’s more”

and sure enough

as I turned right,

I saw another one

…and another

and then

I swear

the rainbow brought a bird!

My sun was surrounded by two rainbows:

One

and both in a panoramic view.

What a treat, from my friend Gandalf !

  1. Marina, thank you for your recent decision to follow Learning from Dogs. I will be honest in thinking that you had already been following my blog but I am delighted that you now are!

    • I was actually [and have been for a long while!] following you, but I accidentally hit unfollow instead of share [which is right above it!] and I can tell you it took some time for WP to be convinced that I want to follow you [back], as I kept seeing a funny message! A glitch I found with many other friends I follow. Happy to be back! 😉

  2. Gandalf really is a wizard!
He gave you magic rainbows, and you are magic for sharing them with all of us!
Listening to the 2nd Vangelis music. He’s very popular in Canada!
    Okay…love and hugs all around!
Ohhh, it’s almost Friday! HAPPY WEEKEND!!!!

      happy to greet every morning!
Soooo happy you enjoyed images & music!
      Yep, almost weekend!!!!!
…and we anticipate a sunny one after some almost snow cold days! Weather has been acting up!
Oh, hey… Happy April!!!! Be alert! 😉

  3. Oh, nice one, Marina!

Rather than rainbows, you were treated to a lovely display of solar halos (created by refraction through ice crystals in high cirrus clouds). The bright ones on either side and level with the sun are parhelia, or sundogs. You have also captured a 22 degree halo and an upper tangent arc! By the way, rainbows are always in the opposite side of the sky from the sun.

Years ago I was lucky enough to see a similar display but with a bonus circumzenithal arc (which looks like an upside down ‘rainbow’ 🌈!)

    Isn’t nature amazing?

  4. I should have known that Timothy would know what this was called… I was about to write this and decided to read the comments!
How lucky are you to have captured this!!

    I love Vangelis!

    • Awww.. what a beautiful thing to say, my dearest Rebecca! I learned something new today: apparently this phenomena is called Sun Dogs, as Tim was so kind to write and add a wiki link in his comment!
      Happy Spring! 🤗

Happy to hear your thoughts
