Στην Συμφωνία Δωματίου No 1, σημαντικότερο ίσως έργο της πρώτης περιόδου του Schoenberg, η καινοτομία αφορά κυρίως στο ηχητικό σκέλος : ο Αυστριακός συνθέτης απομακρύνεται από τη γιγαντιαίων διαστάσεων μετα-ρομαντική ορχήστρα επιλέγοντας ένα 15μελές σύνολο [“δωματίου”] ενώ μουσικά κινείται ακόμα σε τονικό ύφος. Την ακούμε από το Birmingham Contemporary Group, υπό τη διεύθυνση του Simon Rattle.

In Chamber Symphony No 1, maybe the most important work of Schoenberg’s first period, innovation is more about the sonic part: the Austrian composer moves away from the gigantic post-romantic orchestra by choosing a 15-member ensemble [“chamber”] while musically still working in tonal style.
The Birmingham Contemporary Group is conducted by Simon Rattle.
