Ο François Couperin [1668-1733], γνωστός και ως “Couperin Le Grand” ή “Γάλλος Bach”, κορυφαία φυσιογνωμία του γαλλικού μπαρόκ, ήταν όπως και ο Γερμανός αντιστοιχός του μέλος επιφανούς μουσικής οικογένειας.
Μεγάλος θεωρητικός και βιρτουόζος του εκκλησιαστικού οργάνου και του harpsichord, έγραψε κυρίως μουσική γι’ αυτά, η επιρροή της οποίας σε μεταγενέστερους συνθέτες […ο Bach ανάμεσά τους] υπήρξε τεράστια.
Ακούμε μερικά κομμάτια για harpsichord σε μεταγραφή για πιάνο, από τους αξιοθαύμαστους Alexandre Tharaud [τα τρία πρώτα] και Angela Hewitt [το τελευταίο απ’ αυτά]

François Couperin [1668-1733], also known as “Couperin Le Grand” or “French Bach”, a leading figure of the French Baroque, was, like his German counterpart, a member of a prominent musical family.
A great theorist and virtuoso of organ and harpsichord, he wrote mainly music for them, the influence of which on later composers […Bach among them] was enormous.
We hear some harpsichord pieces transcribed for piano, by the admirable Alexandre Tharaud [the first three] and Angela Hewitt [the last one of them]
