Στο εκπληκτικά σύντομο διάστημα της ζωής του [πέθανε από φυματίωση σε ηλικία 26 χρόνων] ο Giovanni Battista Draghi, ευρύτερα γνωστός ως Pergolesi, έδωσε μια σειρά έργων, όπερες, θρησκευτική μουσική, μουσική δωματίου, που τον κατατάσσουν ανάμεσα στις σημαντικότερες φυσιογνωμίες του ιταλικού μπαρόκ και όχι μόνο. Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζει το γεγονός ότι ο συνθέτης που θα έμενε στην ιστορία για το Stabat Mater του [αποσπάσματά του εδώ] υπήρξε ταυτόχρονα ένας από τους επιφανέστερους εκπροσωπους της opera buffa – κωμικής όπερας [το ιντερλούδιο La Serva Padrona] αλλά και της opera sera – σοβαρής όπερας [L’ Olimpiade κ.ά.].
Ακούμε αποσπάσματα από ένα ακόμα θρησκευτικό του έργο, Miserere No 2 σε Ντο ελάσσονα, τιμώντας τον σαν έναν από τους κορυφαίους συνθέτες του Ιανουαρίου.

In the stunningly short time of his life [he died of tuberculosis at the age of 26] Giovanni Battista Draghi, widely known as Pergolesi, gave a series of works, operas, religious music, chamber music, which rank him among the most important figures of the Italian Baroque and beyond. Particularly interesting is the fact that the composer who would go down in history for his Stabat Mater [excerpts from it here] was at the same time one of the most prominent representatives of opera buffa – comic opera [the interlude La Serva Padrona] and opera sera – serious opera [L’ Olimpiade et al].
We hear excerpts from another of his religious works, Miserere No 2 in C minor, honoring him as one of the top January composers.
