Το θεατρικό έργο του Ίψεν Peer Gynt ανέβηκε για πρώτη φορά το 1867, με σκηνική μουσική του συμπατριώτη του Edvard Grieg. Από αυτήν, ο εθνικός συνθέτης της Νορβηγίας άντλησε δυο συμφωνικές σουίτες, την πρώτη και (δίκαια) δημοφιλέστερη απ’ τις οποίες ακούμε.

Ibsen’s play Peer Gynt was premiered in 1867, with stage music by his compatriot Edvard Grieg. From it, Norway’s national composer drew two symphonic suites, the first and (fairly) most popular of whom we hear.
