A wonderful tribute, Marina, and I agree with the others. Madame Ingres is very lovely, but Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres has a look of disapproval. 🙂 Hugs xoxoxo
Poor man…. remember, he is the painter painting himself. He could be troubled by thoughts… 😉
Thank you, my dear Lauren!
Many hugs back!

Yes, poor man, and we are not to know the “why” but just to appreciate his talent. 🙂 🥰🥰🥰
Oh, yes indeed!!!!! 😉 xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

A wonderful tribute 👏💐🙋♂️
Thank you, my dear Ashley. 🙏
Your tributes are brilliant, Marina. I remember the first time I saw your “tribute” post to Jean-August-Dominque Ingres. And I went back to view all the paintings again. They way he is able to bring the materials together. It is as if I can touch the taffeta and silk. I especially appreciated his painting – Napoleon I on his Imperial Throne. Can you imagine how Monsieur Ingres must have felt when he unveiled the painting to Napoleon. The first thought that would come to mind for me would be: – I hope he likes the painting!
A ha ha, yes… that’s probably why he did such an incredible job on his cloak, laurel, sceptre, golden embroidery, velvet, fur…. now here’s an example of a painting you really want to touch!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you, my dearest Rebecca!
Beautiful painting, I love the portrait of Lady Ingres, the detail in the fabric of her dress! The portrait of the painter is rather solemn or stern as Timothy said. xoxoxo
I agree with you and I think solemn sounds right. We can never know the thoughts and troubles of someone. I like both! 😉❤❤
Me too, beautiful paintings.

I agree with Timothy… Madame is lovely whilst Monsieur is stern!
Maybe a softy at heart wanting to portray himself like that! 😉
😊
😘😘
Interesting that all of the fine detail is on the subject’s face, unlike the clothing in the other portraits.
I noticed that too and why I thought it was even more interesting. His involvement with her surely had something to do with it! 😉
Ah, I see . . . 🙂
🤗
Madame Ingres is beautiful. Señor Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres looks a bit stern.
Who knows, maybe he wanted to portray himself like that! 😉 I agree, she is beautiful.
I’m sure he did. There was that stern style.
😉😂
