Υπήρχε μια εποχή που “openly gay” σήμαινε απλώς να είναι ενήμεροι των ερωτικών σου προτιμήσεων κάποιοι συγγενείς και φίλοι. Αυτό άλλωστε είναι και το λιγότερο (αν μπορεί να θεωρηθεί) ενδιαφέρον που μπορεί να ειπωθεί για τον μεγάλο Πολωνό συνθέτη και πιανίστα Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937), το έργο του οποίου αποτελεί μια προσωπική, συναρπαστικά μεθεκτική προσέγγιση των “κοσμοϊστορικών” αλλαγών που συντελούνταν στην Ευρωπαϊκή μουσική του τέλους του 19ου – αρχών του 20ου αι. : από τον υστερορομαντισμό στον ιμπρεσιονισμό και την ατονικότητα.
Ακούμε ένα μέρος (Andante) από την έξοχη 4η Συμφωνία του (Symphonie Concertante) για πιάνο και ορχήστρα. Τη Συμφωνική του Birmingham διευθύνει ο Simon Rattle. Στο πιάνο ο Leif Ove Andsnes.

There was a time when being “openly gay” meant that simply some friends and relatives would be aware of your sexual preferences. Besides, that’s the least interesting thing (if it can be considered that) about the great Polish composer and pianist Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937), whose work is a personal, fascinatingly methectic approach to the “momentous” changes taking place in European music of the late 19th – early 20th centuries : from post-romanticism to impressionism and atonality.
We hear a part (Andante) of his excellent 4th Symphony (Symphonie Concertante) for piano and orchestra. Simon Rattle conducts the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Leif Ove Andsnes is on the piano.
