Συμπαραγωγός (υπεύθυνος για την τελική μίξη) του Raw Power, κύκνειου άσματος των Stooges ήταν ο David Bowie. Ήταν η πρώτη, αλλά όχι η τελευταία φορά που θα συνεργαζόταν με τον άνθρωπο που θεωρούσε τεράστια επιρροή και επιστήθιο φίλο του. Η συνεργασία θα συνεχιζόταν και θα κλιμακωνόταν με τα κλασικά άλμπουμ του Iggy Pop Lust For Life, The Idiot. Εμείς ακούμε το ‘Search And Destroy’, “απόλυτο” πανκ ύμνο – για τον υποφαινόμενο τουλάχιστο – μουσική του κιθαρίστα James Williamson σε στίχους του Iggy. Απο πολύ μικρή απόσταση ακολουθεί το ‘Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell’, από το ίδιο άλμπουμ και με τους ίδιους δράστες. Σε ό,τι με αφορά, δε νομίζω ότι έχω ακούσει πιο πειστική απεικόνιση της “κόλασης” από το τελευταίο section αυτού του τραγουδιού.

David Bowie was the co-producer (responsible for the final mix) of Raw Power, swan song of The Stooges. It was the first, but not the last time he would collaborate with the man he considered a huge influence and a close friend. Their partnership would continue and reach its peak with Iggy Pop’s classic albums Lust for Life and The Idiot. We are listening to ‘Search And Destroy’, the “ultimate” punk anthem – at least for the undersigned – music by guitarist James Williamson with lyrics by Iggy. Pretty close behind comes ‘Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell’, from the same album and by the same culprits. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more convincing depiction of “hell” than the last section of this song.
