Celestial calendar

July 4 Mercury at Greatest Western Elongation. The planet Mercury reaches greatest western elongation of 21.6 degrees from the Sun. This is the best time to view Mercury since it will be at its highest point above the horizon in the morning sky. Look for the planet low in the eastern sky just before sunrise.

July 10New Moon at 01:17 UTC.

July 24Full Moon at 02:37 UTC. This full moon was known by early Native American tribes as the Buck Moon because the male buck deer would begin to grow their new antlers at this time of year. This moon has also been known as the Thunder Moon and the Hay Moon.

July 28, 29Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower. The Delta Aquarids is an average shower that can produce up to 20 meteors per hour at its peak. It is produced by debris left behind by comets Marsden and Kracht. The shower runs annually from July 12 to August 23. It peaks this year on the night of July 28 and morning of July 29. The nearly full moon will be a problem this year. It’s glare will block block most of the faintest meteors. But if you are patient, you should still be able to catch a few good ones. Best viewing will be from a dark location after midnight. Meteors will radiate from the constellation Aquarius, but can appear anywhere in the sky.

A sunset from the city [above]

and something that made my day this morning…

a kraa kraa outside my window!

Did he really follow me from the sea?

Taking a bow to the sunrise of a new month!

Happy July everyone!

or, as my friend would say:

Kraa Kraa!

  1. Happy July dearest Marina…. Missed being here in WP, but sometimes we need to take a break and concentrate upon our inner world and that of cultivating our Gardens inside and out.. LOL….

  2. These shots are exquisite, Marina! I can never get enough of sunrises and sunsets. And that crow made me smile! Happy July, my friend! 💗😍💗😍

  3. AHA!! That Diva Crow did follow you!
He’s got you speaking crow. Perhaps he can teach you to fly?
Hmm, in many ways, you already fly.
Well, perhaps you can teach him to appreciate music, and he can kraw and caw in harmony.
    Happy July, dahling Marina.
Working on a pencil sketch of AGM Marina. So far so good. If I complete it without messing up, I’ll send it to you!

    Happy July !!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  4. What a perfect way to start the month, my friend.
Beautiful images and oh my goodness, your crow!
And the music… ah yes… It is now close to 10 pm and is perfect.

    • Thank you, kind lady!
I couldn’t believe it when I heard kraa kraa outside my window! As I’d been thinking that it’ll be a while before I hear or see one!!! 😉
Hope you’re having a beautiful day and hey, weekend’s ahead! 🤗😘🤗😘🤗

    • Ah, new month without Julie is not complete! (you reminded me if your concerts… sigh!)
Thank you so much, my kind friend!
Yamas to a great month ahead! Clink!

  5. The beautiful sun and sassy crow continue. A meteor shower. I’ve never been able to photograph and get video of one.

    • I couldn’t believe it when I heard him this morning! Love the sassy crow! 😉
Me neither, not to mention that only twice in my life have I been able to watch a meteor shower!
      Thank you, my friend!

    • Marina – your crow portraits reminded me of my crow friends that I meet up with on the Vancouver Seawall. What better way to begin July than with your stellar photos and Stan Getz and friends. Sending hugs!

      • Funny how these beings are like a connection with a different world. No wonder they bring smiles. 😉 Thank you so much for joining me in welcoming this summer month and thank you for your heartwarming words too!
        More hugs to you! 🤗
