Last week I stopped at a tree whose surface looked similar to the one in your first picture, so I understand the visual appeal.
Eucalyptus trees have such beautiful barks and I’ve noticed that lovely ghosts often inhabit them! 😉

Eucalyptus trees have some of the most interesting barks, to me. Wonderful textures. So glad you like them.
I’ve never seen a eucalyptus tree. The closest I’ve seen to that kind of texture is the crepe myrtle.
They are in the myrtle family. The ones I’ve seen have huge smooth barks and they create wonderful patterns as they shed bark [part of their renewal process].
The colors the textures , I can imagine the scent of parchment. I love these ❤️🌹
