Έχω ιδιαίτερη αδυναμία σ’ αυτή την Impromptu του Franz Schubert [είδος ελεύθερης, “αυτοσχεδιαστικής” φόρμας, πεδίο τιμής για πιανιστικούς συνθέτες του 19ου αι.] και την έχω ακούσει από αμέτρητους σολίστ – αναμεσά τους κάποιες αυθεντίες στον Schubert. Κανείς δεν φαίνεται, για κάποιο λόγο, να την καταλαβαίνει τόσο βαθειά όσο ο σχετικά άγνωστος και με λιγότερο εκθαμβωτική τεχνική, Ολλανδός πιανίστας Martijn Van Den Hoek.

I am especially fond of this Impromptu by Franz Schubert [a kind of free, “improvisational” form, practiced by pianist composers of the 19th century] and I’ve listened to it performed by innumerable soloists – among them some authorities in Schubert. No one seems, for some reason, to understand it as profoundly as the relatively unknown and with a less glamorous technique, Dutch pianist Martijn Van Den Hoek.
