Μια από τις συναρπαστικότερες μεγαλοφυίες στην ιστορία της μουσικής είναι αυτή του Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, εμβληματικού συνθέτη της πρώτης ρομαντικής περιόδου. Στο σύντομο διάστημα της ζωής του [38 χρόνια] κατάφερε να μεγαλουργήσει όσο ελάχιστοι, ξεκινώντας από εντυπωσιακά μικρή ηλικία : η δημιουργκή ωριμότητα ήρθε στον FM νωρίτερα από οποιονδήποτε άλλο συνθέτη, του Wolfgang Amadeus συμπεριλαμβανομένου.
Ένα καλό παράδειγμα γι’ αυτό είναι το Κουαρτέτο Για Πιάνο Νο 1 σε Ντο Ελάσσονα, το πρώτο έργο που δημοσίευσε ποτέ σε ηλικία 13 ετών, το οποίο αξίζει να ακούσει κανείς ολόκληρο.

One of the most fascinating geniuses in the history of music is that of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, iconic composer of the early romantic period. In the short time of his life [38 years] he managed to achieve greatness like few others did, starting at an impressively young age : creative maturity came to FM earlier than any other composer, Wolfgang Amadeus included.
An good example of this is the first work he ever published at the age of 13 : Piano Quartet No. 1 in C Minor, which is worth listening in its entirety.
