Η Τέταρτη [“Ιταλική”] είναι η πιο διάσημη από τις συμφωνίες του συνθέτη, μουσική απεικόνιση των ταξιδιωτικών του εντυπώσεων από την ιταλία, όχι ακριβώς χώρα ακόμα τότε.
Το πρώτο απ’ τα δυο μέρη που ακούμε, II. Andante Con Motto είναι εμπνευσμένο από μια θρησκευτική πομπή που ο Felix παρακολούθησε στη Νάπολη. Το δεύτερο, IV. Presto & Finale : Saltarello [05:56] από τον ομώνυμο ρωμαϊκό χορό.

The Fourth [“Italian”] is the most famous among the composer’s symphonies, a musical depiction of his travel impressions from Italy, not exactly a country yet then.
The first of the two parts we hear, II. Andante Con Motto is inspired by a religious procession that Felix attended in Naples. The second, IV. Presto & Finale : Saltarello [05:56] from the Roman dance by the same name.
