Η ορχηστρική εισαγωγή “Ein Sommemachtstraum” [“Όνειρο Θερινής Νυκτός”] αποτελεί το εντυπωσιακότερο ίσως επίτευγμα του Γερμανοεβραίου συνθέτη – την ολοκλήρωσε στην ηλικία των 17 ετών. Το έργο θα χαρακτηριζόταν από τους “ειδικούς” ως “το μεγαλύτερο θαύμα πρόωρης ωριμότητας που είδε ποτέ ο μουσικός κόσμος”.
16 χρόνια αργότερα, θα ενσωματωνόταν στη σκηνική μουσική του Mendelssohn για μια θεατρική παραγωγή του έργου – μέρος αυτής ήταν το περίφημο “Γαμήλιο Μαρς”.

The orchestral overture “Ein Sommemachtstraum” [“A Midsummer Night’s Dream”] is the most impressive achievement of the German-Jewish composer – he completed it at the age of 17. The work would be described by “experts” as “the greatest miracle of early maturity the music world has ever seen”.
16 years later, it would be incorporated into Mendelssohn’s stage music for a theatrical production of the play – part of it was the famous “Wedding March”.
