from Oannes *

Ξεκινάμε το αφιέρωμα στον Φρειδερίκο Σοπέν με ένα από τα λιγότερο γνωστά, νεανικά του έργα : το Rondo à la Krakowiak, που συνέθεσε σε ηλικία 18 ετών, όντας ακόμα στην Πολωνία – ήδη διάσημος εκεί ως παιδί θαύμα, βιρτουόζος πιανίστας και συνθέτης. Θα εγκατέλειπε τη χώρα δυο χρόνια αργότερα, αρχικά για τη Βιέννη και στη συνέχεια για το Παρίσι.
Krakowiak είναι το όνομα πολωνικού δημοτικού χορού – η αγάπη για τη μουσική της πατρίδας του και η ενσωμάτωσή της στις απαιτητικές του φόρμες ήταν από τα χαρακτηριστικά του μεγάλου συνθέτη, εμβληματικού της ρομαντικής περιόδου.

We begin the tribute to Frédéric Chopin with a lesser-known, youthful work of his: Rondo à la Krakowiak which he composed at the age of 18, still in Poland – already famous there as a child prodigy, virtuoso pianist and composer. He would leave two years later first for Vienna and then Paris.
Krakowiak is the name of a Polish folk dance – the love for his homeland’ music and its embodiment into his demanding forms was one of the trademarks of this great composer – emblematic of the romantic period.
